A&M ranked first in Texas three years running according to the Journal and others . I’m trusting the Wall Street Journal before you.

My UNO buddies- many of them struggled to find good jobs back in the 80s- meanwhile I had multiple offers from several Fortune 1000s right out of school. Many of my UNO buddies were underemployed - they didn’t really have much of a leg up on anyone. Afterwards always had recruiters calling me etc. Well before the internet days. Felt very fortunate to have found A&M.

There is a lot of truth to the UNO outcomes.. if you are sticking around town, you can make it work.. I managed to get into a Big 6 accounting firm straight out of UNO, but it was only a small handful of us, maybe 4-5 that year that got in. I would say another dozen or so were hired out of Creighton. So don't let someone tell you a small school won't open some doors, but it's really up to you to make things happen. After that first job, the UNO degree means nothing, while the Creighton degree will pay dividends for as long as you need it to. I would go out of state to the best place for my major as well. The networking circles you get to run around in are priceless.

This kid should not be playing College Football any more. If the NCAA let's this slide, it means they were paid off and things will get messy in a hurry.

If the NCAA was smart , they would craft a very empathetic letter offering to help him get all the help he needs and potentially get back to college some day, and make it clear that day is a few years away. We'll see how bad he wants to play college ball at that point and who would have him

Nah it’s TT doing this because they know the NCAA has little teeth left. It’s already a Wild West if this kid gets eligibility there literally won’t be any more rules.
I was wondering, but figured it was already discussed. Do they have an out in his contract? I would think so. Are they sticking with him because they have no one else they think can win games?

The latter wound my guess because they have no way of anyone else transferring in because there is only 1 portal now .

He's in his fifth year now. He just wants a delay in the suspension until he can get his $6 million from Tech. Then he can tell the NCAA to pound sand.

Kinda feel sorry for the kid he blew it so bad. What a loss of an amazing opportunity that you don't get very often in life.
Gambling is a problem for college-aged students since the beginning of time. But with the proliferation of online gambling it can be a really bad trap. I don't really feel sorry for him though. You gotta learn the hard way sometimes.

He's going to sue the NCAA and then file for an injunction. If granted the injunction (can a Texas judge be bought?), then he would play out the year and get his $6 million NIL. But the rule is in black and white and Sorsby broke the rule. So his lawsuit would have no chance of winning. So he won't get an injunction granted if the court isn't corrupt.

Well, it would not be that hard of a lesson. He would be looking at a four year, $30-50 million contract if he goes in the first round of the NFL supplemental draft this summer. Second round would be four years at a little less per year than what Texas Tech was going to pay him.

And for Sorsby, since he's one of a dozen college QBs who are on the radar of being a top pick next year, it could be argued that coming out this summer may be better anyway. There are a lot of teams that would consider a young QB. Vikings, Steelers, Panthers, Bucs, Jets, Browns, Cards, Falcons all would consider Sorsby in the 1st or 2nd round. If Sorsby plays next year for Tech and gets hurt or doesn't show out, he'll slide in the draft cause because next year should be a rare time when supply and demand will not favor QBs coming out.

Imagine ******* up so bad, the NCAA punishes you.

I don't gamble. I don't understand the urge.

But I can't imagine what would drive you to do so when you know you flat out cant, and are being paid to not gamble.

Don't count out Sorsby, his injunction will be heard by a retired judge who I assume will deny, but a potential appeal would be heard by the 7th Court of Appleals - all four judges are Tech grads! Guns up baby!

So, he's gonna be able to drag this thing out through the legal "system" long enough to get him through the football season, right? Seems like the type of thing it's setting up for. Hell, I've seen much worse crimes drag out far longer than that.

Bigger picture though, I assume TT will want a final answer before the season? Because, even if they can get him through the season with legal tactics, those wins could all get negated once its finalized. So, maybe they want the opposite of dragging it out.

That said, I don't know what other options TT has than this kid. From what I hear, they put a lot of eggs in this one kid's basket.

Would TT really play him at this point? Admittedly, I continually underestimate how low some people will go, but TT would be setting themselves up for a pretty big fall here if they play him without this being played out in the courts and settled i'd think.

Yep as as @Man Woman & Child said above he will be ruled ineligible at some final point and of it’s after the season they will have to forfeit the season and would assume if they make the playoffs they would have to repay any playoff money .so it’s going to be interesting.

Who's their backup?

Yeah, that's a tough one. I imagine that small group of big oil money boosters who have been ponying up all that NIL money the last couple years have put a sh*tload into this season's roster. Doubt they're wanting to flush it all by trotting out some lame duck QB. Not saying that's the case here, maybe they have a great backup, I don't know. But I kinda doubt it.

Looks like TT doesn't have a back-up, because they are going all in on this idiot. I was wrong, I thought they'd realize that kid is toxic and not worth it, but apparently not

We believe that given the facts and the context of Brendan’s case, the NCAA’s ruling should be reversed or modified. As a generation of college athletes face the legalization and rapid proliferation of sports betting in our country, gambling addiction is rising to the point of epidemic among college aged men in particular,” Schovanec said. “The NCAA bylaws governing Brendan’s case have not adapted to the era of widespread legalized sports betting that this generation of college athletes now has to navigate. He is not the first college athlete to face gambling addiction, and unfortunately, he will not be the last.”

You should be embarrassed if you are a TT fan that’s had leadership like this.

Two different situations.

Not really. Different circumstances leading to it, but when it comes to be embarrassed by our administration, we should be at the front of the line. I was mostly joking, but please don't be one of those tone deaf fans Nebraskans always get made fun of for being. It's a pretty bad look.
