Is he rated a bad defender? Seems Pitino could use him as well as Iowa State, right? Or is Pitino not capable or too rigid?
Pitino doesn’t run normal defense. He runs full‑throttle, hyper‑aggressive, pressure‑heavy, switch‑everything, rotate‑on‑a-string chaos that demands elite lateral quickness. If Mom had elite lateral quickness he would be a 1st round NBA pick this year.

Iowa State’s uses positional defense , help‑heavy, switch‑selective scheme where you can hide a slow‑footed stretch‑4 with smart rotations.

Pitino’s system exposes guys like him instantly!

He was, metrically speaking, the worst defender on Iowa State's roster last season. But Iowa State, metrically speaking, was very good defensively.

So, even though we have seen Rick change his style over the years, you assert he is a system guy who must recruit to his system.

Ian Jackson didn’t play great defense either but was recruited for his shooting, guess they didn’t want to have too much redundancy
He was my favorite player from his class. Jackson. Did he transfer to St John’s this year or was that last year?
