I find it hilarious that some folks on here would not take Rick over Pope. He has absolutely dominated recruiting over his former captain.
I just said in another thread we should've went after him after Cal left for a few years to bridge a gap. This Pope experiment is a total joke to be honest. Pope can't recruit at a big school against anyone really. Pope's biggest failure is letting a Nike signed kid (#1 recruit) go to an Adidas school.

Freeman, Jackson, Ellis, and now Yessoufou. They are a 5 man away from being a title contender next season.

Well done, Coach Pitino.

Also takes St. John's out of the Momci sweepstakes.

It will be interesting to see if Freeman actually has a season he finishes. I'd hate to count on him with him being so proned to injury.

They've got a Billionaire Booster Mike Repole who has given tens of millions of dollars to St. John's NIL fund and pledged to do whatever it takes. That's the beginning and the end of their recruiting success. Can Kentucky's big money boosters, cumulatively, match that, while overcoming the impediment of JMI? I guess we'll see with Momcilovic.

But don't be so naive as to act like these kids are sacrificing to play for 73-year-old Rick Pitino, who last won something that wasn't vacated for cheating when their fathers were teenagers. They are following the money.

I agree that money is the deciding factor these days but Pitino has continually demonstrated to get the most out of the cards he has.

I'm not saying he's not a terrific coach. He is. Probably the best college coach of the past 40 years. If only he could have been an ethical guy who wasn't an egomaniac. Kentucky would have gotten to the pinnacle in the 1990s and still been there today.

But that has nothing with these NIL players going to St. John's. That's money. Period.

This is spot on.

The wildest thing for Tounde was Repole essentially breaking the news himself lol. Before midnight he has this tweet:

By 12:30 we had the Shams announcement tweet.

UK would get crushed if the Craft’s did the same thing as the kid would “only be going there for money”. Saint John’s does it and it’s “Pitino does it again” lol

Gotcha. One caveat. I’m not sure that in the modern era there has been a successful college coach who wasn’t an egomaniac. I prefer to use narcissist. Kind of like most politicians. This probably says something about our current society but I’m not smart enough to figure it out.

Ill never not root for him. I think hes the best coach in college basketball history and ill stand on that. Pound for pound, you give every coach the same resources (looking at you Wooden, K and Scheyer).. hes going to come out on top more than any other coach.

Let's see if he get win an OOC game and get past the S16. He's won one meaningful OOC game in 3 years and that was a Kansas team in the Tourney that was already half checked out with DP. No one is doing the wave for him winning the BE.

I’m thinking about the title Of pitino party and I’m thinking

“you’ll never be more uncomfortable watching Rick yell at his son then at a pitino party!”

When I'm obviously trolling the real trolls like yourself...but when Im being normal you still insist on wanting me to troll.

Just let it go and don't take this Internet stuff so serious little fella. It'll be ok no matter what. Quit focusing so hard on me and have a conversation if you're going to reply to me anyway.

Or be like Paul and ignore me. But before you ignore me make sure you message me and let me know you're going to ignore me like Paul because I'm a Kentucky fan only because you and Paul are on rafters. That's the only reason. I didn't grow up with it in my blood or anything.

Again I bow down and kiss the ring my lord. Lord farquad.

Wrong again? Been right about a lot of things also cowgirl
You were wrong about Malachi Moreno. Dead wrong. Remember how you argued that they couldn't restructure the NIL contract after it was signed? Then, I told you plainly that a contract is only enforceable if a relevant party wants it to be? And you doubled down saying Moreno had no leverage?

....Only for UK to have to restructure a new NIL deal due to NBA buzz for Moreno? Reported by KSR. You're young, and like all of us you have much to learn. But everything starts with at least some level of humility.

With all of the MM talk, I would have rather had Yessoufou honestly. This kid is a dawg.
