Recent history says half a dozen hosts aren’t making it to a Super. Who you got going down early?

I’ll say:

Texas
Bama
USM
Texas A&M
Florida State
Kansas

Based on our record against really good teams, we have to be considered a vulnerable host.

But I like Nebraska to falter.

Assuming 6, from most likely to least:
Kansas
Nebraska
USM
Oregon
Texas (due to rumors of pitching injuries)
UNC (if Tennessee holds the ace)

Also considered WVU, but I think they got a great draw for a 16-seed, plus TAMU because I think their pitching injuries may bite them. However, while USC can pitch it, I just can't mentally make myself take them over that Aggie lineup.

Nebraska is not winning that regional. I think they are the most likely 1 seed to go 0-2. I like Ole Miss in that regional.
Wake Forest will win the West Virginia regional and upset UCLA in the Super Regional
Florida has a sneaky tough draw for a top 8 seed. I think Miami escapes Gainesville.
Oregon State is the best team in the Oregon regional and wins that one.
Arkansas will do the same in the Kansas regional

Big upset will be Oklahoma winning the Georgia Tech regional.

Supers will be:
Wake Forest over UCLA
Southern Miss over Miami
UNC over Texas A&M
Auburn over Ole Miss
Mississippi State over Georgia
Texas over Oregon State
Florida State over Alabama
Arkansas over Oklahoma

Omaha:

Bracket 1:
Wake Forest (1-2)
Southern Miss (0-2)
UNC (2-2)
Auburn (3-0)

Auburn over UNC to get to Championship Series

Bracket 2:
Mississippi State (1-2)
Texas (3-1)
Florida State (0-2)
Arkansas (3-2)

Texas over Arkansas to get to Championship Series

Texas over Auburn to win it all. We will finish fifth.

I'd take that right now if someone's offering.

The only one I would change on your list is Nebraska for Texas. No way any one of those teams in the Austin regional can beat TX twice. There are two teams in Lincoln that I think can beat out Nebraska.

I don't think Nebraska makes it to the finals of that regional. Texas has one pitcher who had season ending surgery and another who missed the SEC tournament due to injury. Plus the #2 seed has already beat them in a midweek game. Could be an upset there. We saw how much losing 1 starting pitcher hurt us this year.

If UCSB can win their opener without throwing their ace, their ace is the best pitcher in the country. I could see them beating Texas the first time and then all bets are off once you’re in the loser’s bracket.

Lincoln is one where the upset possibility seems too obvious, which makes me think it will be boring and kinda go chalk. I have ASU beating Ole Miss on Friday, then OM winning a couple of games from the loser’s bracket before running out of pitching. OM is too boom or bust for me to trust them much, and I don’t think ASU has the pitching depth to win this.

So you think Nebraska may lose to a 20-31 SDSU team throwing one of their weekend guys. Could happen. They had a close midweek with them. But I doubt it.

I'll also be shocked if GT loses their regional. I expect them to be completely dominant.

My six hosts that are losing:
UNC - Tennessee or ECU. Both are fully capable of winning this one.
Nebraska - Either OM or Arizona St will win this one.
USM - Regional winner Virginia
Kansas - Regional winner Arkansas
Oregon - Regional winner Oregon State
A&M - Regional winner USC

I really want to put Georgia in that six, but I can't justify it with BC and Liberty being the 2 and 3 seeds

I don't see Southern Cal beating A&M. Interesting prediction re UNC, could be right though. Rest I definitely agree with.

This feels like an important regional for Southern. They really don't need to get beat as a host two years in a row. The benefits of the doubt will be few and far between after that.

I think the 9 was a tip of the cap, but they didn't get any pushovers coming to Hattiesburg.

Chris Pollard is not who you want coming to your Regional as a 2 seed. He took Duke to a ton of Supers as 2 and 3 seeds,

One thing to remember. Most ACC teams historically underachieve badly in the NCAA tournament. Exception being Virginia and used to be Clemson. Last time we went to a regional at GA Tech, we never even saw them until after they'd come through the losers bracket and we wound up going to the super at Florida.

You're right, but this Georgia Tech team appears to be a very different animal.

A&M seems like they could fold with a loss. Southern Cal was right on the hosting bubble and could come out motivated to do some damage. That's my thinking on that one at least.

The Carolina regional could be one of the more exciting ones this weekend. I'm even considering driving up there with my oldest son to watch it this weekend.

I think USC is vastly overrated. And the weren’t in the verge of hosting. They got sent to the 12 seed, which indicates they were #21-24 in the seedings. I don’t see A&M losing this.

One thing is for sure. If Nebraska does win their Regional and Super, then CWS tickets will be hard to come by.

I think these are vulnerable, in no particular order:

UCLA
Georgia Tech
Georgia
Auburn
North Carolina
Texas
