I continue to be amazed at how idiotic these coaches and ADs continue to be about this stuff. LSU/Kiffin and Florida/Sumrall literally could not be worse fits, and they also could not be more perfect fits if they swapped. Kiffin is the modern Spurrier and would utilize the speed in Florida. Sumrall is a hard-nosed defensive guy which plays well at LSU, plus knows the territory.

Both of these hires will fail, at least to the point of maximizing program potential. Yeah they'll get paid and will probably make a playoff or two, but that's not good enough at these two. It's just mind-numbing that these guys can't look at history and see what works and what doesn't.

Not to mention there likely wouldn't have been as much bad blood with Florida. Loaferz is really bad at hiring coaches.

Kiffin is going to fail at LSU. He tends to crack when he is under big time expectations (see USC). With the toxicity of that place as well, I just don’t think he’ll be able to handle it. He could make the playoffs 2-3 times in the next 5 years but if they don’t win it all they will still feel he underperformed. I mean seriously if he hasn’t won a national title, not just made a playoff run etc but won the whole thing, by 2030 they will 100% want to fire him

I think you're sacrificing facts and history in favor of your own hopes and dreams.

Here's what we know historically about Kiffin:
History suggests Kiffin is going to do very well at LSU.
History also suggests it will be entertaining as hell as he does.
And finally, history suggests he will flame out in spectacular fashion after having success there.

Here's what we know factually about Kiffin and about LSU:
Facts suggest Kiffin is a good coach
Facts suggest Kiffin will get much better talent at LSU than he had at Ole Miss
Facts suggest it's so easy to win at LSU that two complete retards have done it in recent history.

Let facts and history be your guide.

How is it “my hopes and dreams” differ from any other MSU fan? My hope is that Kiffin fails, simply because having LSU at a championship caliber makes it more difficult for us to win. In the same way I want Sark to fail, for DeBoer to fail, etc. There might be some on here that want Kiffin to win big, to win conference and national championships at LSU because it would piss off OM. But that’s a very short sighted childlike view because him winning like that also hurts us

None of what I typed means I want Kiffin to win big. Hoping he fails is a personal thing for you because you don't like Kiffin. I don't really care that any of those coaches fail. I just hope we beat them when we get an opportunity on the field. That's really what our focus should be on instead of letting Lane Kiffin live rent free in our heads.

My post was an attempt to remove emotion and focus on facts and history, all of which point to Kiffin being successful at LSU. And because I'm not a beta, I want Lane and everyone else to be successful because if we ever have a situation that we are competing with them for a championship I don't ever want it to be said that we backed into it because everyone else sucked. We should all want to play the best and beat the best.

Caring about 'what is said' is pretty dang beta

So you’d rather all the teams we played be great and winning when they play us? How about…no. I’d rather LSU suck, Bama suck, Georgia suck, Texas suck, Ole Miss suck. And we beat them all and go to the playoff.

USC was on a crazy scholarship reduction due to the NCAA trying to make an example out of Reggie bush and Pete Carol. Kiffin was doing pretty well there. Kiffin has done well everywhere he has been except the Raiders. He has also burnt everything down while leaving town on his own will or being thrown out by an administration that absolutely hates his guts. The end is always dramatic, but the on field results are usually very good.

I mean man he went 8-5, 10-2, 7-6, 3-2 fired. Also the 7-6 year? Yeah he was preseason #1 in the country and lost 6 games, the only time that has ever happened.

Ole Miss benefitted from a very soft schedule last year and also was 6-0 before Miami in one score games. I don’t get all the hoopla over him. Why was there not the media frenzy over Mike elko? I mean it’s because he signed an extension but you get my point. He had his team ranked higher. I just think that paying a dude more than Dabo, as much as Kirby, when he has never won a division, conference, or national title is dumb.

And lose 50-0 in the playoffs because the conference sucked?

Iron sharpens iron.

It's as true today as it was 50 years ago:

Saw Loafrez in the Indianapolis airport this past Monday. We were coming back from the 500 and he was presumably coming back from NCAA. Same damn flight as last year and you bet your *** he was wearing loafers.

Kiffin was around 34ish when he took the USC job and and 38ish when he was fired. He's 51 now, and in that interim, he has coached under Saban for four years, won the conference for two out of 3 years at FAU, and excluding the covid year (when he still went 4-5 against an SEC schedule), has gone 50-14 (28-12). Certainly he has had some incredible luck with scheduling, but, averaging ~2.5 regular season losses per year is pretty fantastic for Ole Miss.

He's very likely to do better at LSU. 3 out of their last four full time coaches won a national championship. Two of those coaches were les miles and orgeron. Brian Kelly, who was a huge disappointment to them, finished tied for 1st in the west, tied for 2nd in the west, tied for 4th, and then was fired sitting at 5-3 in his fourth year. That was worse than he did at Notre Dame, but he went 8-5 his first two years at Notre Dame and then went 4-8 in his 7th season before having double digit wins each of his last 5 years, so it's not absurd to think he woudl have turned it around despite trending in the wrong direction.

He and Sappy Salmon are a lot alike. They can do some fund raising, but can't hire coaches worth a shlt

And no, Salmunz didn't make the OC hire happen
