I hate to say it but my gut says we are a “happy to be here” situation and we probably go two and ‘cue. That’s not to take away from this run at all, it’s obviously been historic for the program. I’m just skeptical we can sustain our level of play long enough to make a deep run.

If we can beat Oklahoma at their own field in a Super, I think we have a chance against every team we play. Definitely a chip on our shoulder

I don’t disagree. I just think we are pretty clearly a team that got hot at the right time whereas everyone else here has pretty much been elite all year. Hard to know how long we can stay hot.

I'm sure we will see NiJaree, who we have faced the last two seasons (last year against Texas Tech and two seasons ago against Stanford). She is 25-6 this season with a 1.78 ERA and would be the pitcher you would make in a lab if you wanted to shut us down.

Last year, we faced her three times:

Won a pitcher's duel and won 3-1 in 8 innings (all runs scored in the 8th). We only had five hits and three came in the 8th.
They beat us 10-1 and NiJaree scattered five hits
They beat us 9-6 and we got to he - had 6 runs on 8 hits

They have not seen any of our pitchers so we have that advantage. We have to score 5+ runs to have a chance in this game. Tech's lineup is not quite as brutal as Oklahoma's, but they have better pitching.

I feel like we will go with Faircloth and hope she can have a good outing. Ricketts had the team practice at a city park yesterday (We had an extra day because we stayed in Oklahoma instead of coming back to Starkville). She wanted to remind the players that they were playing a kids game. I think we will remain loose, but everything surrounding the WCWS is going to be distracting. Big stadium, more media, having to film all the ESPN vignettes, more attention because we took down Oklahoma - its a recipe for an 0-2 weekend if we don't stay grounded.

After the way we handled Oklahoma there's no team that you can rule us out against.
Unfortunately, I think Oklahoma was a much better match-up for us than Texas Tech will be. I'll be surprised if we score more than 1 or maybe 2 runs vs that pitcher. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm on board for us winning one more game on this run before we turn to pumpkins. Whether it's TT or in the loser's bracket, who knows. I don't know anything about any of the other teams.

I think Faircloth/Peja can be far more effective vs TTU than they were vs the OU lineup. The SEC has prepared them well as Coach Ricketts likes to say. I feel better about this matchup than I did OU. I cant make any firm predictions as ive seen enough to know anything can happen. Canady is really good but not unhittable. We can absolutely beat this team.

Ole Miss was up 8-0 on them with 2 outs in the 7th and they refused to change pitchers and the defense fell apart and they lost. We've seen Canady the last two years, so we know her pretty well. They'll start their 2 and this game might be close. TT was the 11th seed we were the 18th or 19th I think so pretty close.

I wont be thrilled with 2 and Q. Won't be surprised though because of the spotlight...

I would love to see a win tomorrow even if it pissed tech off enough for them to run rule us.

I was confused about how we saw her the last two years, but we did didn't we. Texas Tech put us out last year in Lubbock and we saw her the year before that at Stanford.

Third straight NCAA tournament playing against her team.

We wont see their #2, unless it’s in relief.
