Why are people still hung up on Scott? It’s weird.
It’s like that’s your way to defend Brother Rhule. That’s not a way defend Brother Rhule

I mean I’ll forgive Frost sooner than Matt. Scott won a Natty at Nebraska, brother Rhule con-artisted his way to an extension

Hello there Mrs Frost- The Fraud Frost -worst coach in Husker history-Left this mess. Matt looks like Knute Rockne in comparison.
If Frost would have tried and applied himself 10% of what Rhule has done he might still be here. Total Loser and was as a player too! Got carried!

And he was given 2 years too much to bury the program Oranges and Apples. Big difference-Riley still has respect in the community-Frost is a punch line.
Actually have gotten rid of all Frosts recruits and lack of them

As a player he may have played the best QB position that year of all time at NU. As a coach. Not so good.

Name 10 better than a Qb that won a National championship.?
That Nattie was won in spite of Frost-Arguably the worst QB to ever win a Nattie and he almost gave away the game in AZ single handedly-He wasnt a QB anywhere else in college football or pros -[He was a DB playing QB] everywhere other than at NU in an era they didnt need a QB with the OL and RB's we had. They needed an athlete.
Frost never ever could have won any Nattie in history at anytime without that team that surrounded him at NU-He wasn't even a starter at Stanford-That tells it all! Any QB on that 97 roster could have won what Frost won at NU in 97 and the only close games we had was due to Frost failures in the ot and one score games vs unrated opponents.

Must not been of age to watch it then-Hero worshipping one of the worst QB's to play under TO is a young pups fanboy deal-There was a reason Frost had no post season individual accolades nor hardware as opposing coaches and voters knew what he was and wasn't!
He wasnt in the same league at QB as Turner Gill-Tommy Frazier-Crouch-Tagge-Humm-Ferragamo-Steve Taylor-arguably-Berringer-Gdowski-Ganz-Taylor Martinez-Tommie Armstrong all who put up individual better statss for time played as did Bobby Newcome and our own heisman winner Crouch who as a true frosh could have got us there also.
Frost couldn't pass-was a FB sized athlete playing RB with a bad decision making brain!

Lets not forget with no first team all-conf nor all american let alone Heisman mentions Frost was rare in that era as almost all prior WB's attained those accolades with good teams-Frost was surrounded by a Natl Championship team with the top defense-OL and RB's in the game! Lets not also not forget-He wasnt respected enough by teammates to even be named a Captain!!
Go watch 96 ASU game where he was benched and most fans didnt want him back!

You are in a small minority here. This list from 247 looks right to me.

Who are the Top 5 quarterbacks in Nebraska history? Here’s our take in reverse order.

5. Scott Frost (1996-97)

The Wood River, Neb., native never made a first-team All-Conference or All-American squad during his two years on the field at Nebraska, but he was responsible for leading Nebraska to its 1997 National Championship. Frost began his career at Stanford before transferring back to Nebraska, where he started in 1996 and 1997. As a senior, Frost became the first quarterback in program history to rush for 1,000 yards and throw for 1,000 yards in the same season. That year he was also named as one of five finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and one of 14 semifinalists for 1997 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.

4. Jerry Tagge (1969-71)

Tagge is often remembered — and rightfully so — as the quarterback for Nebraska’s first two national title teams in 1970 and 1971. But Tagge was a darn good quarterback in his own right, ending his career with 5,069 passing yards and 32 touchdowns. Tagge was a first-team All-American and All-Big 8 selection as a senior, and his completion percentage of 63 percent that season stood as the best in program history until 2008 when it was broken by Joe Ganz. Tagge’s career passing yardage is still No. 5 all time. He was drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers with the No. 7 overall pick.

3. Eric Crouch (1998-2001)

The only Husker quarterback who will appear on this list who won the Heisman Trophy, Crouch capped his legendary career in 2001 by winning the Walter Camp Player of the Year, Davey O'Brien Quarterback Award, Sporting News National Offensive Player of the Year, and the ABC/Chevrolet National Player of the Year. Crouch ended his NU career by holding 32 school records. He was one of three quarterbacks in NCAA history to rush for 3,000 yards and pass for 4,000 yards in a career, while becoming just the 13th quarterback in NCAA history to rush and pass for 1,000 yards in the same season in 2001. The last great option quarterback to play at Nebraska, Crouch finished his career with 3,950 yards and 59 touchdowns on the ground, and 4,481 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.

2. Turner Gill (1981-83)

Gill finished his career 28-2 as a starter and narrowly missed giving Tom Osborne his first national championship after Nebraska fell short against Miami in the 1984 Orange Bowl. Gill went 20-0 as a starter in Big 8 play, and was a three-time All Big-8 pick, and a second-team All-American as a senior. In his career, Gill completed 231-of-428 passes for 3,317 yards, 34 touchdowns and completed 54 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 1,317 yards and 18 TDs. A talented all-around athlete, Gill spent three seasons in the minor league systems of the Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Tigers.

1. Tommie Frazier (1992-95)
A four-year starter, Frazier led Nebraska to back-to-back national titles in 1994 and 1995, and nearly carried Nebraska to a third in 1993 against Florida State. Frazier carried a 33-3 mark at Nebraska as a starting quarterback, and capped his remarkable career by becoming the first Husker ever to win the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting, received the UPI's Player-of-the-Year and The Sporting News Offensive Player-of-the-Year awards and was a finalist for the Davey O'Brien, Maxwell and the Walter Camp Player-of-the-Year awards. Frazier finished his career with 3,521 yards and 43 touchdowns through the air, and added 1,955 yards and 36 touchdowns on the ground. He was elected to the National College Football Hall of Fame in 2013.

Others considered

Steve Taylor (1985-88)
: Taylor went 31-6 as a starter and earned All-American honors as a junior.

Brook Berringer (1992-95): A major part of Nebraska’s 1994 and 1995 national title teams. Known equally as much for his impact off the field.

Dave Humm (1972-74): An All-American, who set 12 Nebraska records during his career and went 27-7-2 as a starter.

Vince Ferragamo (1975-76): Ferragamo started both of his seasons at Nebraska, he set a season record with 22 touchdowns passes in 1976. Started for the Rams in Super Bowl XIV.

Your comment about Frost is way off.
WAAAA:ROFLMAO:y off😂 Irony is of those you named-although none great-most carved out some NFL pro seasons as a QB. and almost all had more individual college accolades than Frost

Scott Frost was never a starter at QB for any team-pro or college- besides Wood River HS and a couple years at Nebraska where he got benched in 96
But dont let facts slap your fan boy theories

Ken Dorsey for example- :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: what an analogy
College Awards & Accolades
  • National Championship: 2001
  • Heisman Trophy Finalist: 2001 & 2002
  • Maxwell Award Winner: 2001
  • Big East Offensive Player of the Year: 2001, 2002
  • First-Team All-Big East: 2000, 2001, 2002
Scott Frost began his college football career at Stanford in 1993, originally recruited by legendary head coach Bill Walsh to play quarterback. He spent two seasons there, acting as a backup quarterback and starting in the Cardinal secondary,
But he wasn’t a team captain and he had a bad game against ASU!

😂 Great post.

Yeah -

We could dissect the list of Husker QBs he listed who have 0 national awards, 0 national championships, 0 NFL experience… and he still ranked them at or above Frost.

He did absolutely nothing to dispute the fact there are an army full of QBs worse than Frost who won the NC

The only thing this guy is proving is that he is unable to separate Frost the player from Frost the coach. His last few sentences outed him.

He is very emotional about Frost

Obviously this is going over your head!
Frost wouldn't have won any National title with those other teams either- Those other teams didnt have that! He didnt lift the 97 team and we had as good or better riding the pine at the time and most players supported that belief and Crouch proved it!

97 team had 6 players consensus all conf players-Frost wasn't one of them!!!! Nebr had the best OL-Best RB-best D-lineman-Best DB and that's who carried the team!
He got no mention as a first team all conf by anyone and coaches didnt even give him an honorable mention in conf!!

51% pASSER WITH AVG PASS ATTEMPT 6.7 YDS. LOL top 10 QB my rear

That sounds like greatness in the eyes of those that know the difference??
Laughable to be mentioned with past Husker greats.

Steve Taylor BTW was an all american QB?

Dont show your ignorance believing Frost was anywhere close to being an All American -Heisman candidate or even All Conference anywhere but in your fan boy eyes. He played with multiple All Americans is his claim to fame and they carried him to the Nattie

As a player he may have played the best QB position that year of all time at NU. As a coach. Not so good.

Because you viewed him as anything but a pompous *** was your decision and it was a terribly wrong one not shared by anyone in the know or watching from outside Husker Nation!.
The conversation is about him being the best QB or even top 10 at Nebraska of All Time in Nebraska history above and that is pure BS and fanboyism seeing something not there! He was not even an Avg Nebraska QB and his stats -inability to get on the field as a QB at his school of choice or the NFL and accolades all show that!

I wonder what Frost did to this guy or his family because he is more emotional than a 10th grade girl who just got dumped.

Any objective person (disqualifier for some) can see 1997 was a stunning success for a very good quarterback.

  • First Nebraska player in history to rush and pass 1000 yards in a season - only 9 players in NCAA history had accomplished this before Frost
  • Set new Nebraska quarterback record with 19 rushing touchdowns
  • Set new Nebraska quarterback record for rushing yards
  • Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Finalist
  • Davey O’Brien award Semi-Finalist
  • Second team All Big 12 Associated Press
  • Third team All Big 12 coaches
  • National player of the week CNN/SI
  • Conference player of the week - twice
  • Player of the game - four times
  • Academic All America and conference
  • Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year award winner ‘96
  • Tom Novak Award: Nebraska award given to the senior who Best exemplifies courage and determination
