In North MS it got over $4 at some places over the weekend, back down to the $3.80 range this morning though!

Still somewhat wild to me how confident markets and I guess people in general are that the strait is opened and the oil and gas market returns to relative normal sometime in the very near future.
It’s going to take a while for it to come back down just because of supply issues. A lot of oil production went offline because of the strait being closed and it doesn’t exactly start right back up with a flick of a switch. The market will react and drop when it’s all said and done (whenever that may be. I don’t think it’s anytime soon) but it will only go so far because of supply constraints.

We can put it on our credit card.

It's all good!

Trust the process.

Hey DCD, farming question. I was talking to my nephew farmer this weekend and he said something that surprised me. He said that he liked diesel prices over $4 because the commodity prices would increase accordingly and he’d make more money at that price than he would at $2.50. He said he started the planting season with 10,000 gallons at the lower price but that it’s long gone.

He’s not wrong. Sometimes you can see soybean prices increase on usage if crude oil is high it will make soybean crush numbers higher to make soybean oil. Same can go for corn a little. Both have had a little increase in price the last two months.

"The United States is the largest Oil Producer in the World, by far, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money."

I am so sick of the socialists and America haters on here that complain about high gas prices. Why do they hate America's success? Why do they hate us making a lot of money?

I actually pulled up to Kroger the other day to fill up. Gas was $3.99, but when I put in my number it told me I had 40 cents in fuel points. I may have cried a little while pumping gas. Honestly made my whole day.
We signed up for Kroger Boost. You get more coupons and 3X fuel points 7 days a week and not just 2X on the weekends. They even run 4X fuel points deals every once in a while. We save at least 50 dollars in coupons on our weekly shopping and I get a dollar off fuel almost every time I’ve filled up in the last 6 weeks. You also get free grocery delivery if it’s over 30 dollars.

I signed up for it, and it is the main reason I had 40 cents off.

How much is your electric bill compared to before this war to what it is now? Should be up about 16% higher. It's not just gas, it's everything you buy will be going up. Remember that farmer that was happy because he made more money due to commodity prices? Where do you think that extra money comes from? Your pockets unless you are that farmer.

These cost will come down as soon as that straight opens but not all the way for a lot of reasons but it will come down somewhat. That gas tax has to be reinstated though or our roads will go to ****. We already have spent billions and going further into national debt. Everyone getting rich off this war needs to be taxed at that 90% rate they taxed the rich back in1950's. 17 'em.

Here's another problem. Qatar's LNG trains had 20% of it's capacity destroyed by Iran. They won't be back online until possibly 2028 - 2030. That's 20% of their production if nothing else gets attacked. I don't know how that will affect us but 75-85% of Mississippi's electricity comes from LNG or LPG. Europe is not going to have enough LNG/LPG this winter even if the straight opened tomorrow. They will be needing more oil to keep warm and at a higher cost than LPG/LNG.

The US still won't suffer as much. We have plenty of oil and certainly LNG/LPG even if limited by refinery capacity but those tankers coming here to get our oil need to turn around and now for us to recover any time soon. Let them go wind and solar, we won't.

Yep and people have been cheering this like it’s some kind of win. These tankers are taking our domestic supply.

LNG exports have been on a steady increase for years now but it’s really ramping up now and that’s not necessarily a good thing for our power grid or our electric bills

Yeah that’s cheap non top tier gas. With todays engines i wouldn't put it in my vehicle. Could cost you a lot more than 10 cents per gallon.
You can put fuel treatment in your car and get the same results if you don’t use top tier.

But why not just pay a few cents more for the top tier gas & save by not buying fuel treatments that may or may not really do much good.
I get top tier when I can but there’s not many stations in Hernando.

Top tier or not I put Seafoam in my wife’s Palisade every 2000 miles and do a CRC injector cleaner yearly because it’s a GDI engine that even top tier gas won’t help. Very poor engine design. Won’t ever have another one after this one.

Yea, I’m generally not opposed to shipping out oil and/or gas, but I think some restrictions would be good right now. Particularly for all the countries that like to lecture us while neglecting their defense spending. Be a good learning experience for them.

Seriously. Virtually every major gasoline brand is top tier. Even several you wouldn’t think of as major. Kroger is an exception. And it’s not going in my car. I would (and do) just use top tier gas & no additives. There are some real downsides to using Seafoam.

Good thing I’ve only driven 1100 miles in the last year
You don't buy have utilities? They are up too. How about eating, or anything else. Do you not buy anything? If y\ou only drove 1100 miles does not mean you will not be affected.

I still say the US will have plenty of energy the problem is others don't. They will want ours and drive the prices up but energy going up makes everything cost more.

How to make it through this and come out the other side better off... Buy BIG OIL... they are about to make a killing! Then eat beans and rice for awhile.

Not sure how those private donations really affect gas prices, but okay.
I took the comment from 85Bears to be an observation on what seems to be top of mind and most important to the President.

He could view increased prices as most important(since he campaigned on promising to reduce basically all prices) and tirelessly work to at least reduce self-inflicted price increases(oil, gas, tariffs).
But instead he seems to constantly focus on and want to talk about the ballroom- talk about it in speeches, talk about it in front of M1, talk about it on AF1, talk about it in the Oval Office, etc. His team recently called it his legacy, so you can see what is his priority here and why he wants to bring it up so often.

He views higher gas prices as 'peanuts' and a 'very small price to pay' while boasting that 'we make a lot of money' when oil costs more. So high gas prices clearly arent a priority or even a care.
