Michael Bell is a former officer with the Grayson Police Department in Kentucky who resigned amidst a viral controversy over his arrest tactics. After his tenure in Grayson, he was hired by the Paintsville Police Department. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Details of the controversy surrounding his conduct include:
  • The Grayson Incident: Body camera footage released in May 2026 showed Bell arresting a Grayson resident for DUI. Despite blowing a 0.00% breathalyzer and initially passing field sobriety tests, the citizen was still arrested. Footage also captured Bell seemingly covering his microphone and camera while conferring with a supervisor.
  • The Aftermath: The viral video sparked public outrage, and the Grayson Mayor released a statement confirming that Officer Bell had resigned. The affected citizen's DUI charge was dismissed in May 2026 due to insufficient evidence of impairment.
  • Current Employment: On March 16, 2026, Bell was hired and sworn in as a police officer in Paintsville, Kentucky. Paintsville city officials stated on May 23 that they were not fully aware of the extent of the controversies surrounding his previous employment when he was hired.

So he was hired in P n March 2026 but decided to go back to Grayson n may 2026 and arrest this innocent guy?

Assuming the article means may 2025 or an earlier year.
It says the footage was released in May 2026 not filmed then. Based on other situations regarding the release of body cams, I assume it was recorded many months earlier. The time stamp on the video says it was taken 10/25.

I have several family members in law enforcement and support them 100%. I just can not imagine a world without police officers.

Just like any other profession, there are good ones and bad ones. When was the last time you went out to eat and had a good or bad server?

Bad police officers are like crooked college coaches, they just move on to another place to work.

I get your point and agree with backing law enforcement, but there’s a big difference in a bad server and a bad police officer. There should be a crackdown on allowing these officers to just jump to different departments

I support the police but allowing him to resign instead of being fired is the problem.

I agree 100% but why is this any different when say, Will Wade pulls his questionable antics only to go elsewhere?
Bad cops doing this is no different than a teacher doing something stupid and going to another state to start over.
Just saying,

That's one crooked place. I'll throw in the county sheriff and the local KSP barracks as well.

Simple solution is to have police officers carry their own insurance. If they do something reckless than they are no longer insurable. Or at least have a national database that follows these cops around.

I’m with you Old Blue but I’m afraid you’ve picked a bad case to make your point. Police officers possess way more “power” than their “authority” allows.

Will Wade can't take away my freedom or my life. Big difference. One deals with a game, the other deals with real life.

Yeah... the problem is a lot of times the "good ones" come out to defend the "bad ones". Which leads me to wonder who exactly the real "good ones" are.

It seems what we were taught about honesty, hard work, accountability, all have fallen to the wayside.
We just can not call out one profession and turn our heads to the others like teachers, coaches, priests, and so on. Any person who has "authority" over others, especially the young and helpless, they need to be taken to the train station.

I’m with ya brother. No one has the authority to take advantage of people and those professions you listed should also be held to a higher standard. Police officers carry the weight of extreme power and one that’s abusing that should be viewed as a criminal and not a bad employee.

Did they not contact his previous employer for a reference? Do they not do any name searches on the internet prior to offering a job?

There is nothing more honorable than a police officer who “protects and serves.” The problem is, the position tends to attract people whom are corrupt and hungry for power. The police union and institutional body absolutely refuses to address the problem which just makes it worse. People say it’s a small percentage. It’s not a small percentage in 2026 and we are trending toward it being a majority. When it reaches that point; I believe we reach the point where America would be better off without a patrolling police force.

Great, thoughtful post. It's an uncomfortable truth that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.

Except a bad server can't result in the loss of my finances, freedom or my life.

Because Matt Jones decided to combine everything into one board.
I think you are giving him way too much credit. He’s not as big of deal as he thinks he is.

At one point, my brother was in deep with UK/Cal. He was the one that recorded the videos and asked questions of new players and introducing them to the BBN. Long story short, I knew a whole lot but my
brother absolutely could not stand Cal so it didn’t last. Point being, MJ doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.

My brother actually designed and launched CoachCal dot com.

I also support our guys in Blue but your comparison isn’t close to being the same.
When you have a bad server they are not breaking the law to send you to jail, often times ruining your life. Losing your job, getting divorced and leaving you with a permanent record.
Crooked or flawed officers should be arrested for false imprisonment, banned from ever working in law enforcement even down to a mall cop. It is just as bad to break the law to make an arrest as it is to break the law originally.
If these guys are not held accountable it’s easy to have someone kicking your door in next time and arresting you for your religion like Nazi Germany.
Last time I checked having a bad server doesn’t ruin people lives. Crooked Cops should be Jailed.

Without getting in too deep to my opinion of modern policing, I have wondered for a quite some time whether the profession ATTRACTS aggressive, angry people who crave power and control or does the profession CREATE aggressive, angry people who crave power and control after getting a taste of said power and control.

The corruption is alarming and all those “good cops” who keep quiet/uphold the thin blue line of silence are also “bad cops” too. Their silence is complicity.

There’s always been a one-sided give and take with cops and citizens where they can talk to you however the hell they want to, but you’re supposed to be polite and say sir at all times, and if you don’t they’ll start yelling and threatening arrest.

I am an energy matcher. You treat me with respect and speak to me politely, I will do the same and we will have a nice conversation. You come at me disrespectfully, I will match that disrespectful energy no matter what kind of uniform that person is wearing.
