If we get Momcilovic, I think it is essential that the offense is committed to setting him up for at least eight (8) threes a game.
Defenses would have a really tough time containing two quick guards that can pull out with highly efficient midrange jumpers, both can shoot on spot up and then you have McBride and Mom to make bombs. When you really think about the compatibility, could be a deadly lineup.

I can see that, too, Village. I'm with you .. the offensive make-up of this team has pieces that fit together better than last year.

I'm not sold on this roster at all either. We shall see, of course. I thought last year was gonna be a fun team, started out that way and then it all went downhill. I thought the first Pope roster was gonna be extremely meh, and then they turned into a really fun group to watch. Cal's teams....I started tuning out all the offseason hype and nonsense around those teams years ago. And so on and so forth as we go back to Billy Clyde, Tubby and Pitino. At this point, for me, seeing is believing.

If we get Momcilovic and the offense is geared to his getting at least 8 threes a game, hopefully more, I think it is not unreasonable to think he might break the men's all-time record by Stephen Curry of 162 made threes in a season, provided we play enough games. He averaged 7.5 attempts per game and made 136 threes last year in 37 games.

Here is the truth. Milan makes our team better. He opens up the floor for our guards. Getting Moreno back was crucial. Our team is nice. Not great, but average to good with potential. The Debbie downward act like season is over already. The super positive pope pumpers act like Moreno and Milan are the best players in college basketball. We know the truth is somewhere in the middle. There are clearly 2or 3 teams in our conference better than did. Probably a top 25 team with potential to be top 15. This top 5 and final four talk is just that…Talk. The truth is we probably finish 4/5th in SEC, have somewhere near 8-10 losss and get a 6 seed. Maybe make the second weekend maybe not. The extremes on here remind me so much of the political world we leave in. Both sides to the extremes are crazy and the truth is in the middle where the majority of normal people live.

The 2025 team was top 15 border. What would need to happen for this team to be as good as that one? If you mull it over and conclude the group is more likely to be better than 2025, then top 10 is a reasonable projection. If you think they will be worse, then tail end of top 25 is where you’ll place them.

Well its simple, the 3rd and 4th best players on that team was prob amari williams and andrew carr

the 3rd and 4th best players on this team is probably kam williams and moreno

Who do you have as the top players on the 2025 team? I'd rate Brea and Amari as the best players.

This upcoming team will be quite good if Moreno is the 3rd or 4th best player on the team.

I think the two best players on that team were mont and otega jrob really close in that convo too

as for tbis team zoom and wilkins SHOULD be the clear 1-2 punch, moreno as an enforcer that doesnt always have to produce on the statsheet

I dont hate this one, at least my vision of it, I think its a roster where guys like Hawthorne and Mason williams should be able to spread their wings coming off the bench, but knowing pope they will prob get like a combined 6mpg

Im sticking with my prediction of weeks ago that fans will actually like this team much because they won't quit.

We'll still lose often, but they won't quit.

Nobody really knows what Hawthorne can and will do in game action. He may be the X factor as to how good this team will be. We just don’t know yet. Ultimately the tournament usually comes down to guard play.

This team could turn out really good. What will ultimately matter is what’s played on the floor and not how many or how few stars they had in HS. Clayton Jr from Florida was technically a nobody by CBB ranking standards. He was 69th overall and 17th for PG’s.

I mean that was the case the last couple years too and each year we got 20+ wins so
No true Kentucky basketball fan thinks barely getting 20 wins is a good season. 30 plus or a final four run is the standard for UK and it’s why we’re the greatest team in the history of the game. Just a few seasons ago we were talking about 40-0 and meant it. I was thinking more like 36-3 or something like that, but you get what I’m saying. Anyway, luckily getting 20 wins isn’t cutting it for the Head Basketball Coach of The University of Kentucky. I know Mark Pope would agree with that to and he knows it’s time to prove he’s got what it takes or not. I’m 100% behind him and hope he shows the world he’s the right guy for this program, if not, it’s time to make some hard decisions. Let’s go Coach, get it done and shock the world this year.

Fantastic post. Couldn’t agree more with this. 5 or 6 seed and get hot at the right time. Can’t ask for much more.

Honestly on paper before both seasons started, I would say last year’s team beat this group by 25 to 30. I’m just hoping lots of these guys play better than they ever have so far, that’s a lot of hoping. It can happen though so we’ll see. We do have potential.

And then he played for Rick Pitino his freshman year! lol. He made him about 10 times the player he was the year before. Coach’s can change a players future if they’ll put in the work. Clayton Jr did.

30 wins is not a norm or a standard even at UK. It is a nice goal and a level we should reach on occasion. Cal did it 5 times in 15 years. BCG did not do it in his 2 seasons. Tubby did it twice in 10 seasons. Sutton did it in once in his first season out of 4. Joe B did it once in 13 years. Rupp did it 4 times in 5 years then not again his last 20 seasons though it should be noted he had a lot of years we didn't play enough games to make it feasible. While there were years we didn't play as many games through the years Pope has faced the most difficult schedules in our history as well. So while an average of 23 wins in 2 seasons is not good enough on a continuing basis it isn't a total disaster either. An average of 27-28 wins a year while reaching 30+ on average every 3-4 years going forward with some deep post season runs mixed in would be pretty impressive given the improvement of the SEC.

This board ranted & raged about Amari & Brea .
Everybody loved Butler - KK - Carr - Robinson (all injured) .
This next team is more talented than the first team at every position 1 thru 10.

I agree with most of this but I’ll say 30 wins should absolutely be standard and the goal every year. My opinion of course. I also appreciate the SEC has improved, but we should always be in the running to win the SEC. If they’re getting better then we should be to. Fans need to raise their expectations and not be satisfied with just ok. After 50 years of having the highest expectations for Kentucky, I’m never gonna lower them and will never except losing. Where are you getting Pope has had the toughest schedule in UK history? I haven’t saw that.

30 wins is absolutely not the standard though. If that is the standard we have failed 38 times in the last 50 years.
