First off, Thanks to the all the brave men and women that served this great Nation. Without your sacrifice we wouldn’t be here.

Now on to other topics. I’ve had a BGE for about 3 years now, and mainly only have used it for a grill. Last week I got the heat shield plate and a INKBIRD fan that goes in the air vent.

I put that Butt on at 3 am fully expecting a 10 hr cook. I set the temp alarm at 160. At 8:30 internal temp was 154, I wrapped it in foil and at 9:20 the temp alarm went off on my phone. Pulled it off at 165 and wrapped in a towel and put in cooler.

Here is picture of graph on the temps and the controller. I had top vent open about an 1/8 too far and grill temp got up to 253 at 4 am. I closed vent most all the way and went back to bed. When I got up at 6 it was dead on 225.

Get you one of these gadgets if you don’t have one.

How does the fan attach to the egg? I have looked at these before, but am hesitant because I have the Bayou Classic version of the BGE...Will it work with mine?

Comes with these little shot glass looking ports that attach to the vent slide.

Yeah you gotta get over 200. I took one off at 185 last year because it was way past dinner time, and the outside would pull apart but that center was like a tenderloin. I mean it tasted fine, just didn't pull apart.
Good luck!

Conecuh sausage, chicken quarters, and hamburgers.
Grilling drinks is a few Sweetwater 420’s and then a couple glasses of some Pinot Noir that the wife has picked out.

And this is mostly directed at myself, but I’m sure we’re all guilty
Grilled 4 porterhouse steaks Saturday night, smash burgers Sunday night, and smoked a 10lb butt overnight for today. Family of 4… been eating good this weekend. Did give away some of the bbq today

Grilled 50 burgers yesterday for a neighborhood street party. Dos Equis for drinking. Large time had by all.

203 is the magic number for a butt. Surprised the bone pulled out. Your thermometer may be off but 165 ain’t shredding.
It was a small one with only a small piece of a bone. Yeah, it needed a bit longer. Was a good trial run for another gathering we having in 2 weeks.

Finishing up two racks or ribs right now. I have a household of women so I cook them beyond fall off the bone

I should have picked up the ribs at Costco yesterday, but based on the sideways rain today, maybe it dodged it. Would have preferred ribs tonight
