No, not that one. We all decided a long time ago that ketchup goes on hot dogs.

The debate that we need to settle is side-cut or top-cut hot dog buns.

I too have to admit that I had never before seen nor heard of top cut hot dog buns.

They seem to make a lot of sense gravitationally, and had they been on my radar long back, I’m sure I would have voted for them here.

But given that I’ve known nothing but side cut buns in my 55+ years of life, I had to vote based on what’s wired into me at this point.

To be honest, the bigger question is if a hot dog is a sandwich.

Sir, that is highly DIShonest because there is no question in that regard.

A hot dog is NOT a sandwich, it falls under its own separate genus and species in the grand kingdom of cookout fare. End of story. :)

Bottom cut buns are rare but they're out there.

I’m picturing a customer bringing a package of top-cut hot dog buns into the grocery store and asking to exchange them.

The grocer asks, “But why, sir? Is there anything wrong with these?”

And the customer replies, “Yeah, sorry. I got them home and dropped the package on my kitchen floor. When I picked them up and took a closer look, I realized I’d bought bottom-cut buns by mistake!”

Sad part is, I could also imagine this actually happening 🤣

Oh, 100%. By brother-in-law is a Sheboygan boy and anal about his brats. No way top-cut buns would work for him.

Where does Hot Dog Focaccia Fall?
My personal take on hot dogs.....

Traditional hot dog is the only way to go. That's on a hot dog bun with the condiments of your choice. Ketchup, mustard, onions, relish, chili, sauerkraut, etc. Whatever combination floats your boat. Do you like ketchup on a hot dog?? Go for it and don't let anyone tell you it's evil.

Any other wiener serving techniques make me gag. Focaccia hot dogs?? WTF is that?? Cut up and mixed into baked beans?? That's for kids under 10 years old. Corn dogs?? 🤮

And (in the voice of Frank Contanza) there's one more thing that bothers me about some of you people. Pigs in a blanket aren't wieners wrapped in some sort of gross pastry. I don't know who invented rolled up hot dogs and called them pigs in a blanket, but they need to have their asskicked. Pigs in a blanket is halupki. Or maybe that's just a western PA thing. I'd never heard of the "other" pigs in a blanket until I was about 30 years old.

Sorry Bob,
I don't care for the two choices; are there other ways a bun can accommodate a 'Red Hot'?

I tried a hot dog without a bun the other day......terrible experience.
