Very insightful post!Yeah, I’m surprised by that. I think Moreno’s conscious perimeter shooting form (which unfortunately corresponds with this FT shooting form) makes becoming a good shooter hard to imagine and that form should be disabused as job #1 this off-season. On the other hand, his unconscious form - the form he uses when he has to react quickly – is fine (see the LSU shot). This situation of a of dual-shooting form is not that unusual in developing players, and guys who are supposedly good at fixing shooting forms say that if the unconscious form is good then it’s usually a fixable issue.
Boy, I think becoming an excellent outside shooter or even FT shooter is a big ask for Moreno. He had the same dual shot form thing in high school. If he was hit with a pass 10-12ft. from the basket and immediately went up for the mid-range shot as the defense collapsed on him he would shoot a fine looking shot in front of his head. But when he was standing still with time to shoot it was that ugly cock-it-behind-his-head shot. The fact that he makes the % he does from the FT line is despite that ugly form and a product of lots of repetition. Maybe he can get to the “not completely awful” (i.e., at least it’s better than Quaintance) level with a ton of repetition from the 3pt. line, but I believe that shot form will make it extremely difficult. I really wish Pope and Moreno’s brother would push the shot fix. It’s been done before at the college level, and he already has the better shot form in his bag when rushed.Very insightful post!
I've thought a few times about how perfect his form was on that LSU shot. That shot plus the fact that he was able to hit near 70% on free throws with clearly bad form makes me think he has the potential to become an excellent shooter.
The negative, doom and gloomers will be irate over this! Some of us have been saying for over a month that he’s gonna return to UK!The case for Moreno to return is pretty lock solid.
Not different at all. You’re just believing a promise to be picked is binding. It is not and players have been burned before. If, as a player, you believe the ONE team that has promised you that, you’re naive. In this day and age there’s no reason to take that risk.If he goes in blind I agree. If a team tells him if he stays in the draft they will take him that is different.
If he goes pro it is just another long time of Kentucky players stupidly going pro early especially now in the NIL era.
We lose player after player while teams like Florida get lottery players to return.
I thought it was Cal pushing guys out but it is apparently everyone from Kentucky.
The only time guys stayed was for that 2012 championship team because of the whole strike possibly looming that year.
Every other year even players who should never think about leaving left.
I’ve never commented on your takes one way or the other. But according to you, you’re close with Milan. If this doesn’t happen, (Milan coming here), it’s time for you to take a vacation from the board.Moreno coming back and Milan coming too. A big week for BBN.
First half just happened, be ready for the next domino.I’ve never commented on your takes one way or the other. But according to you, you’re close with Milan. If this doesn’t happen, (Milan coming here), it’s time for you to take a vacation from the board.
Not zero out of 10 like you'd rate a girl, it's out of 10 execs how many say stay in draft versus go.Damn to be a zero in this draft. Not sure if he’s referring to money or athleticism but either way…
