I said yesterday that our pitching concerns me more than our hitting. Right now, we simply are not that strong with our starters, as they pitch behind hitters & then have to groove it or walk a guy.
GT clearly is the best team the ACC has this year. Why? Their hitting is incredible.

I hope this game was a wakeup call to everyone who calls this pitching staff “elite”. We may have some elite arms but after Decaro, Lynch, Glauber, and McDuffie everything else is just average at best. Going to be a tough ride with only 4 reliable arms

Pitching staffs are elite because of how good their best guys are. Nobody has 7 elite arms.

Runner thrown out at third in the first inning with no outs set the tone. Boaz leaving pitch after pitch middle-middle,but not pulled soon enough gives up a five spot. Three wild pitches, two of which should have been blocked. Not sure why De Caro wasn’t brought in after Duff. Game, set and match. Not our best game, but this is a resilient team that could end up in Omaha. We will see.

Agree with all. You left out Boaz trying to make a play he shouldn’t have and knocking down a would-be double play ball. 3 runs scored thereafter.

Even if he had pitched today, it would have been a short pitch count. Somebody else would have had to get the last 6+ outs.

Ummmm… Duff is a reliever who has done back to backs all year. The other two are starters who need to be as ready on as regular a schedule as possible for Friday regionals. If it was regionals or later you WOULD see them in today’s scenario. It was never going to be that important. Especially in a game where we were always playing catchup and not protecting a lead late (where we possibly could have seen Decaro today).

What really hurt and showed up today was Decaro awful start . We had to burn Glob up Friday for the weekend and if DeCaro pitches deep and we pull away we don't burn him and we go to him quickly today and it's a lot better game .

This is an every year occurrence with baseball, so, I feel ya. People want to read into all this stuff when they haven’t seen the team play championship level baseball all year. Basic fact is that we lost to a great team, which btw, we split 4 games with this season and in this particular game, we allowed 3-4 runs on dumb mistakes, especially the wild pitches, which we just can’t do playing elite level teams.

So yeah, we made mistakes we typically don’t make and it cost us the ACCT. I still think we’re set up really well in a NCAA format to get to Omaha. When we get to Omaha, our pitching and ability to manufacture runs will play well. We just have to play error free baseball.
