Question for the PA wrestling knowers. Anyone got a report on Kyle Scott? Flipped from Pitt to Va Tech. Went 49 and 1 during the season and only loss was 4 to 1 against Adam Waters in the state championship match

Good pickup with some downstream potential. If he can go 184, then at worst he'll compete with Carini for the starting job after Desiante graduates. At 197 he's definitely behind Sasso but has a chance to start after that. I think he can be a good college starter in time, but he won't keep Robie from recruiting at his weight(s).
Quentin Wright was his head coach for all 4 years of HS. It shows that they got a lot of practice time together. He's a scorer.
I wouldn't put too much stock in his HS folk results, very weak schedule being at a rural AA school that doesn't get invited to even 2nd tier tourneys. If PA were a single class state, he'd be in the 3-6 range behind Waters and Hutcherson, lumped in with Sumpolec (George Mason), Zuercher (Cornell), and Snyder (2027 Pitt).
He was 5th last year at U17 Trials in both freestyle and Greco -- that's a better indicator than his HS folk results. IIRC he plans to compete at NHSCA Duals this weekend and possibly at Fargo this summer.
Side note: Pitt's 2026 class has now lost Scott, Karson Brown, and Elijah Brown. Oof.
Quality high-character kid, not very tall but very strong including tree trunks for legs. Able to stonewall just about everybody but always looking for offense.
Lane Foard (174) transfer from Wyoming. He redshirted this past year. Posting it because he wrestled with my sons at Benedictine College Prep. Great kid, three time state champ, National Prep Champion, 2nd at Ironman. Was 4th at soldier salute this past year . Got in one dual but wrestled up two weight classes at 197 and lost 9-4 to No. 15 Rune Lawrence at West Virginia

Yep, Rockville, have one son at Benedictine. He'll be a jr next year. They are loaded and would bet they repeat as State Champions. I would not be surprised if his class threepeats.
Collegiate and St Chris are usually competing. Unfortunately, Collegiate has been in the running for a long while
That’s a blow for Wyoming. He was 5th at the US open U20’s. He had a really good tournament going 6-2. I thought he would slide in nice at 174 for Wyoming with Neitenbach, Novak, and Carroll at 184, 197, and heavy. That would’ve been a solid upper weights. Manny Rojas transferred in so maybe he can go 174 but I thought he would be a 165

They are adding talent, but they aren't going to have 4 in the finals and score 130 plus points anytime soon. It would be a good thing if they did, it just isn't going to be a thing at all. They have some more climbing to become a version of the 1980s to 1990s Nittany Lions. A perennial top 5 team with some champs here and there.
And Nadav Nafshi from PA then LHP (Nat Prep Champ this year) who flipped to UNC

I get priorities NIL and what not but i personally wouldnt leave Laromie for Blacksburg. and i think the VT campus is really pretty, but that part of wyoming is amazing. we used to drive out to Berkeley every year, and that stop in Laromie was the highlight of the trip for me. I guess winters put a damper on it, but i was never there in the winter.
My brother lived in Cheyenne for ~5yrs and I have an uncle (and aunt) and two of their sons (and their families) who are there. I have zero experience with Blacksburg, but I can't imagine Laramie being a hot spot for many college-aged men. The winters are brutal (the wind gets insane) and there isn't a thing to do unless you have a UTV/4-wheeler and/or are big into hunting. My family is all out there because of work (oil & gas), they otherwise can't stand it. It was fun to go visit and ride 4-wheelers for a bit but it got old really fast. Then again, we're all Los Angeles transplants.
Winters there are brutal. The wind with the cold just makes it unbearable at times. Luckily there are tunnels that connect the dorms to some places on campus. It really is a beautiful place though

Yes they are not PSU who has a national title contender nearly at every weight, or even OKST who has probably an AA at every weight but this is a legit lineup! who is capable of upsetting one of the top 3 or 4 teams and sliding in there
I expect them to be a top 5 team this year and maybe can squeeze into 4th
Miller graduated. Gaj can go 157 with Church/Nininger 165 Burton 174 Desiante184 sasso 197. I think we see Melvin 2nd semester as well. They will have a solid team and should be in the mix for a trophy
They could be a trophy team. They could be a 6th or 7th place team. They have brought in talent, but they don't have a track record that says they are going to become elite now. A few years down the road and they have had 5 or 6 individual championships with several serious team runs at 2nd and 3rd then I would concede the point.
The idea they are all of a sudden going to be something they haven't been seems silly to me.
