This thread is blind leading the blind. Quite comical.
My overly simple take is that there are 2 theories. One is that, yeah the Raiolas decided Rhule and NU weren’t giving him a good enough opportunity and they decided to take a shot at a program with more potential. Both for his development and for chances to win. Even if that meant he’d have to sit a year. So, they took their ball and went to Eugene. Theory 2 is that Rhule decided he’d seen enough, given enough, catered enough, etc and DR wasn’t talented enough to put up with all of it. Squeak wasn’t worth the grease so to speak.
I already said what happened in my response to Orclover, yesterday. Try reading, I guess. How about you enlighten us all with your abundance of knowledge and inside info and brilliance about all of it then, oh wise one?
Hilarious when guys like you just fly by to tell everyone how stupid they are and provide zero information of their own.

Staff got sick of Dom whoring out his son, plain and simple.
It’s what happened. If you don’t want to believe it, fine by me. Dom did it after Dylan’s freshman season and started all over again this past season. You talking about this?
That’s what you’re hanging your hat on and taking shots at other posters over? Lmao okay dude

There was absolutely no chance of Donnie "moving on" and Dylan staying at Nebraska. Most of us know your thoughts of NU/Rhule but let's not be disingenuous. There was never a scenario that played out like that.Donnie isn't coaching at Oregon. Dylan isn't even starting at Oregon and he likely lost millions to leave Nebraska to go sit on the bench. This is a major indictment on Nebraska. Dylan could have stayed in an offense he is familiar with, in a place he is familiar with, been a 3 year starter, and get paid millions...instead he chose to leave to a place with no family ties, isn't his favorite team growing up, who isn't paying him as much, and hasn't promised him playing time, all the while recovering from injury and having to earn the respect of a very good program. Just another case of "Rhule's way" leading to losing. There is no reason that Donnie could not have "moved on" and taken another job while Dylan stayed at NU.
We needed Dylan more than Dylan needs us, he could go to Oregon or wherever and sit and get developed. It was Rhule's job to keep him if possible because the alternatives are obviously much worse despite the head in the sand idea that we need a "running threat". I would feel much better about losing a highly productive, experienced qb who grew up loving Nebraska if....we had a great defense, great special teams, and played the right way. But we don't play good football and don't have any talent on the roster so losing a 5 star who has produced most of our offense over the last two years is a very bad thing. You will see this by game four if not sooner. I know it sucks to have a terrible coach, who just got extended, and I agree it might be healthier to look for "alternatives" to just being screwed, but there are a lot of bad programs and they get bad by making bad decisions. We are one of those.Okay everyone, I tried.
You proved my point. "Rhule sucks!" is the only argument you have.
You don't want a dialogue, you want a soap box to b*tch. Got it. I'll stick with people who actually like to discuss what may have happened rather than "Did I tell you guys yet - Rhule sucks!"
They "finally found" the team that just played in the FINAL FOUR, and has a program well known for producing good qbs. Man, the delusion is grand with this board. He has a lot of flaws, and will need to go through it to unlearn a lot of bad habits but thinking he "settled" on one of the top programs in the country is really weird. They took their ball and tried for multiple schools but asked for too much and finally found a school in Oregon.
I agree it is over for NU. We are just starting the autopsy a little early. It doesn't matter. I don't think AC will be better, but he will be different. Both Dylan and Nebraska needed something different. I'm glad its over for Dylan, and for NU.
You don't have any sources or knowledge but lets say the staff did "let Dylan go", is that any better than him leaving, especially because they replaced him with a lower division qb with a 1 to 1 TD/INT ratio who isn't a winner. Imagine having a healthy Dylan, with a new oline coach...vs...what we currently have. My argument, no matter why he left, is that his leaving is a really bad thing...and most people cannot accept that because he ran funny, acted like a teenager, and was only like a top 2 or 3 qb in his age bracket instead of being a clear #1.Dude, you’re so off with the situation, you have zero clue.
Staff got sick of Dom whoring out his son, plain and simple. It was time to move on for all parties.
Well, you’re wrong. But I’m not going to argue with an idiot. Passing on what I know. Clearly, you don’t believe it. Maybe you should just stop caring. It’s clear nothing about Nebraska football brings you any joy. Plenty of other hobbies in the world. Life is too short. We needed Dylan more than Dylan needs us, he could go to Oregon or wherever and sit and get developed. You are either the worst troll or the worst fan around. I am not a Rhule fan, but good grief, learn how to defend your argument.
This is so true!Rhule Appologists:
We were going to win a lot more games before DR got hurt. You can’t blame those end of season losses on Rhule.
Also Rhule Appologists:
Rhule told DR leave.
Does not compute.

I don’t care what you think. I offered clarity to what happened. No, you're passing on what you think. Let's be clear.
Again, common sense says this is about as believable as the wife told him not to take the Penn State job bullsh*t. Whole lot of people passed on that they knew he was never offered it, which makes a lot more sense.
His argument seems perfectly defended to me. He thinks Dylan told us to beat it and that it was (yet another) colossal mistake by Rhule to let it happen. Why is that opinion so hard for you to deal with? I normally agree with you on most things but I’m not getting where you’re coming from on this one.
Ive been on the record saying its the absolute best spot for him and was the right thing to do. That doesn't mean he didn't try to renegotiate Louisville higher as they had agreed in principle to a deal. They "finally found" the team that just played in the FINAL FOUR, and has a program well known for producing good qbs. On the corpse of Lenin, you mean, right. We've been over for a while. Sportswriters building excitement for NU are going through the motions. There is simply no reason to believe the literal context of anything written or spoken in support of NU football currently.I agree it is over for NU. We are just starting the autopsy a little early.
It will be the best spot for him if he's able to beat out the 4-star quarterback that is in Oregon's 2026 class and the 5-star quarterback that committed to Oregon's 2027 class. That's definitely not a certainty. He probably would have had a better chance of starting this year and in 2027 if he had transferred to Louisville.Ive been on the record saying its the absolute best spot for him and was the right thing to do. Yeah, they wrote about it in the article, and it pretty much just validated the rumors. I don't blame Rhule on this. It seems like he had to keep Uncle Donnie on the staff for a 5*, but you know he wasn't impressed, because he eventually fired Uncle Donnie and wanted to move on.Dom also was trying to get Dayton paid a ridiculous sum of money considering his ranking. The staff was over it, they made a choice to move on from the Raiola crowd.
He won’t play at Oregon IMO .Ive been on the record saying its the absolute best spot for him and was the right thing to do. That doesn't mean he didn't try to renegotiate Louisville higher as they had agreed in principle to a deal.
I'm not saying its the best spot for him to start, but for his development. He may never start, but sitting a year at Oregon will probably be a positive if he works his tail off.It will be the best spot for him if he's able to beat out the 4-star quarterback that is in Oregon's 2026 class and the 5-star quarterback that committed to Oregon's 2027 class. Judging by the spring game photos - he’s definitely putting the work in.I'm not saying its the best spot for him to start, but for his development. He may never start, but sitting a year at Oregon will probably be a positive if he works his tail off.
I am betting he does not come out of spring practice after next season as the projected starter therefore I believe DR will have one more transfer in him. Lots of things can happen. Moore could get hurt next season giving Dylan a chance to play, but the Ducks are not just going to hand the starting QB job to him like the Huskers did. He will have real completion for that job in Eugene.I think it’s 50-50 if Dylan is at Oregon next year.

Inside Dylan Raiola's Nebraska divorce: NIL drama, family influence and Oregon's QB succession plan
Why one of college football's highest-paid players in 2025 is starting over as a backupwww.cbssports.com
Thoughts?
It was poorly written. It should have said Dylan was "willing to" sit as a backup-- and that was because Dylan thinks he'll shine with all of that talent around him. Plus he didn't have many options left at that point. As far as the money is concerned, I've heard that $3.5 million number-- it was what he got in his second year. Heard it 4th hand so to speak, but I know a guy who knows a guy! There’s no way in hell Dylan “wanted” to sit for a year as a backup.
That booster doesn't know what he is talking about. He's probably referring to one revenue source.A booster of substance told me the TOTAL deal was 3 million over 3 years, not 3 million per year. Now maybe that got renegotiated but there were reports of 3 million per year early on and he said that was completely false.![]()
Your last sentence is spot on IMO.Holgerson has used the Air Raid system in a variety of ways over his career, but I doubt very much he ever coached a QB that was so limited in the run game. DR has no natural instinct for running the football, and for a kid with an arm like his, that might be the difference between being good and being great. The kid could put really defenses in conflict if just every so often he just took the 5-7 yards that are waiting between him and the sideline. And it doesn't matter if a receiver was open 15 yards down the field. Bigger plays open later when you make the defense pay for playing the pass every 2nd and 3rd down. Instead, his game made things easy for the more legit D coordinators in the B1G. And given these facts, the Raiola family seems like a pretty entitled lot. In a sane world, he would have kept his mouth shut about any NIL enhancements and committed himself to add competent QB running to his skill set. But it seems both sides were content to part company.
Holgerson would never throw shade at DR, but I bet he feels way more comfortable with the QB room he now has.Your last sentence is spot on IMO.
