Arkansas may have just stolen

They didn't steal it from us but I believe they will unseat someone else. Arkansas would destroy some of these other "projected" lower ranked host schools.

They very likely won't steal it from us. Our RPI is #12.

Probably stole it from Oregon, West Virginia, or Kansas.

Kansas should be safe. Won the Big 12 regular season and tourney.

I do think State and West Virginia should be sweating the fact that Oregon and Arkansas are both playing for tourney titles tomorrow. Not room for all four of those teams.

Southern Miss has fallen to #14 and will likely fall to #15 if they don't go 2-0 tomorrow. They may looking at the 2 seed in Starkville.

Arkansas is in the same position we were in 2024.
RPI around 20
17-13 in the SEC
6 loses to Q3, Q4

I don’t think they host unless they win today.

Not once in NCAA selection history has an SEC school with 40 wins & top 16 RPI not been a host
Put a gun to my head and make me call it, I think we host. I can’t say I’m totally confident in it though.

I think it’s 4 teams for 3 spots between State, West Virginia, Arkansas, Oregon, and I think all four have compelling cases. And not particularly fond of the fact that Oregon and Arkansas both have opportunities today to win a conference tourney by beating an elite team.

Would be the biggest screw job in NCAA selection history for us to not host, since literally every team in history with our resume has hosted

I would add Kansas, Southern Miss, and Oregon State and say it's 7 teams for 5 spots.

I feel pretty confident that Kansas and USM are gonna host. Kansas especially since they won Big 12 regular season and tourney. USM is going to get the AD on the committee benefit of the doubt.

I have Oregon State behind all the others. Good metrics but I don’t see how you reward a team who only played 5 games against Q1 all year and went 2-3 in them.

I agree that Oregon State doesn't really have the profile of a host, but they will argue that their conference abandoned them and they had to do the best they could making the schedule. The committee might buy it. But I'd be surprised if they gave both of the Oregon schools a hosting spot. They aren't supposed to be seeding with this in mind, but still I bet one of them hosts and the other is the #2 there.

Southern Miss has to go 2-0 just to keep their RPI at #14. If they don't, it should be easy to leave them out. Their "advanced metrics" are not "host" quality.

After that, I think Arkansas is still just a bubble host, and I question whether the committee will give the Big 12 two hosting spots when neither is in the top 16 in RPI. I just don't see that of those 7 teams I listed, we'll be one of the 2 out.

Our resume has pros and cons. Those are the pros. Our record against Q1 and Q2 and head to head series loss to Arkansas makes me a little less certain about us.
Arkansas has a 21 RPI and terrible losses to nobody teams, they have no shot of taking our spot.

USM has 1 game, not 2 but regardless, they'll be hosting.

They won the Big 12 regular season by 1 game over WVU, and were swept by WVU at home. WVU holds RPI and SOS advantage. There’s no scenario where Kansas hosts and WVU doesn’t.

Oregon State will be the 2-seed in Eugene regional. Oregon has done more than enough to host. Shouldn’t be too much controversy over them hosting, especially if you’re under the assumption that USC will not host.

I can admit when I am wrong. Here to do so.

Here to happily say I was thankfully wrong about Arkansas. The committee once again proved the sec tourney does not count worth a darn. Hail state.
