Good video from LT. He states Paiva won one of the mvps at an Under Armor camp. Again, not the flashiest of recruits as he will have one purpose at PSU to occupy blockers on run plays.

PSU should be putting full court press on Seasay (DE) from PA. PSU has the DE chops. I hope he isn't gonna follow those unscrupulous recruiters from LSU.

I agree. The lack of recruits from PA is concerning.

Maybe, but none of those kids are following Franklin to VT. They were/are all still in play, but appear to be heading elsewhere.
IMO this class will need a year or two to mature. But a couple in this class will have to mature early. Also, next year the portal may play a bigger part. I do like his approach and what he has done so far. Early enrollment for some of these guys will be key.
Franklin is gone, fired. He is widely criticized for everything he did or didn't do here. The same record with a "big win" here and there means an embarrassing loss to teams "without a pulse." Losing to said teams, will impact standings and have a net negative result. That's hardly the predication of "excellence at the highest level."
I've said all along that the problem may not be the old coach or the new one.....but rather fans who somehow think that PSU is a to 5 program. In fact, the past 300 games (that's a pretty solid sample) about 25 years indicate that PSU can now and then be top 5-8.....but over time is a 8-15 program.
Campbell is recruiting no better than Franklin. The portal isn't the remedy either.....as everyone uses it.
The BWI talking heads recently admitted that PSU isn't recruiting the elites because the money isn't there. Wasn't there for CJF and it isn't for CMC. There was even a reference to Kraft's bravado at his post firing Franklin speech.
Bottom line. PSU can't spend top 15. That doesn't bode well for recruiting or portal acquisition.
Today Rivals has PSU ranked #6 in the Big Ten in recruiting looking up at UCLA. Oregon, Michigan, USC and Ohio State. Lurking at #17 nationally is Nebraska, with a higher per commit rating than PSU.
Again. my concern is not 2026. The schedule is Indiana 2024 and everything will be peachy keen.
My concern is when the 2026 and 27 classes fill the depth chart beginning in 2027-28. I don't see where the optimism comes from. But then, I've been excluded from being taught the "secret handshake." LOL
Don't forget a coaching staff that will outcoach every opponent staff on game day and develop talent with Cignetti like precision!

How about beating teams without a pulse? Like an 0-4 team that hadn’t lead all season or a homecoming game against a perennial basement dwelling Northwestern? Too much to ask?
I just want to beat Toledo and not lose to Iowa 6-4 at home when they are taking safeties on purpose because they know the putrid PSU offense can’t even muster up a FG.

I don't believe I posted that. What I meant is that an individual's outlook on life is inherent. Two people can view the same situation differently. I choose to believe that Matt Campbell and his staff have some idea what they are doing, whether it's recruiting or game day coaching. And I will maintain a positive view of the upcoming season and access the results. I would be a fool to believe that my positive outlook has any impact on Penn State's game performances.

Agree 100% that two people can have different views. Also, that Campbell is a veteran coach and as such has a plan or a model he follows.
I too have a positive view of the upcoming season. Primarily because of the friendly schedule. I think 2026 could be very similar to Indiana's 2024 season.
My concerns are for the 2027 season and beyond. The recruiting is not improved over the average of Franklin's tenure.
I believe this is tied to PSU's inability to compete financially with the top ten spenders or perhaps even the top 15.
The sheep here, insist that recruiting (high school) is irrelevant, due to the portal. This is a very foolish assertion since the players in the portal value money as much as high school players (perhaps more). Limited funds do not translate to portal bonanza. By the way, I believe Coach Campbell has stated that he favors the developmental program model.
My next disagreement with the cheer leading section here, is that Matt Campbell's presence is a terrific boost both in game day and "coach em up" ability. Last fall PSU players ranked 8th on NFL rosters which exceeds the average industry recruiting rankings during Franklin's tenure. Someone coached those players. Blasphemy, right? There is absolutely no tangible evidence to rely on that impact. Granted that every coach has a different approach and persona, but national publications would rate the Virginia Tech and PSU hires as "very good." Perhaps A or A-.
Bottom line is that sooner or later (likely 2027-28), PSU's on the field fortunes will be determined by the class of 2026 and 2027. If PSU doesn't acquire more difference makers (high 4s and a few 5s) the future results will be no better than the past 300 games. I don't care who the HFC is if you are being out recruited by 2,3,4 or 5 schools in your conference, your optimism is fools gold.
