Before anyone goes there, this is not an anti-Trump/MAGA Idiot Brigade post. Nor is it challenging 1A rights for people whom we disagree with politically. This post is only intended to generate discussion on social norms, particularly as it relates to the wisdom of being open about political and religious opinions in general, and is therefore NOT a specific polemic against any particular group or movement. Fair enough?

Okay. Here it is: Do we as a society need to return to the days when it was not only polite but common practice for people to withhold their political and religious opinions in public? Obviously, there’s no returning to pre-social media days, but is it time for celebrities or public figures to just refrain entirely from it?

I ask because I believe Jaxson Dart just royally f#cked himself with many of his teammates. And if you are part of the New York Giants organization, that’s a huge problem and headache you really didn’t need.

No. The opposite. People should speak up more. The People should demand accountability from the government.

They want you to stay silent. That’s how we end up with Joe Bidens and Trannies.

As Hillary said, they lose total control when you speak up. Fuсk em

And that was your same position on Colin Kaepernick and NFL players kneeling for the national anthem?

Also, I am not sure about the science behind the withholding of political opinions causing transgenderism and gender dysphoria, but you seem like a bright guy, so I will assume you are—like Donald Trump—well-versed on the matter and know more about it than the leading medical experts who study and evaluate this subject for a living.

Dart went to Ole Miss. He's probably been surrounded by conservative, country club southern white people his whole life. He's probably not socially aware enough to realize that going on national television to support a very divisive politician, will have blow back. He's probably skated through his entire life, not having any difficult discussions around socioeconomic issues in this country. He's probably going to hear some things that hurt his ego as a result, his work peers may push back. If I worked with him, I would keep my mouth shut about it all, because I'd just want to do my job and get paid. But it does show, as OP pointed out, he's a moron for creating as issue where there wasn't one.

edit: just looked at his wiki, he's from UTAH... oh lawd. Yah i stand by my above statements.

He also grew up in Utah and has a brother named Diesel. No way he hasn't lived in a maga bubble his whole life.

I am up for everyone vocalizing their political beliefs but that of course doesn't keep the public from responding to it when it'scoming from celebrities. LeBron has certainly not shied away from political speech from time to time and has often faced criticism for it (just picking someone of the opposite political persuasion). I still support his right to voice his opinions, even if it is to glaze dems or say something outlandish like "ain't no party like a diddy party!" Transparency is generally a good thing imo though as a society we shouldn't care so much what famous people have to say anyways. I do think we have been trending in that direction thankfully where less and less people put real stock into celebrity opinions.

Good to see you over here, rags. I missed you.

very good point, they only support what they agree with. Just because I think Trump is an idiot, doesn't mean im going to call for Jaxon Dart's job, like all these guys were concerning Kapernick 7 years ago.

I could be wrong and am too lazy to Google it, but I believe Dart is from Utah and a Mormon.

Your point still stands, though. Just as the point on hypocrisy does for those who vowed they would fap to the NFL going out of business because of Colin Kaepernick. And on record, I stated back then Kaepernick was a moron and 1A’ing his way out of professional football. Just as I laughed at those predicting the complete demise of the National Football League. 😂

True, but choices have consequences. Kaepernick was and is free to exercise his 1A right to voice an opinion, but he was/is not free of the consequences of his choice, especially when done so while on company time.

It works that way for most of us. I have 1A rights, but I also have responsibilities with my place of employment on and off the clock. And if I want to be a good teammate and work well with others in my profession, I should probably consider how what I say/do in public will impact those professional relationships in the workplace.

Ah, so you were for the players kneeling in protest to perceived government injustices? You were a big Kaepernick fan?

Regardless, Mrs. Clinton was speaking on the topic of children. Are you a child? And she was speaking with regard to social media providers having any control over the content on their platforms.

He/she, “fatpiggy,” seems nice and insightful.

Interesting choice of a username and avatar given that Trump is chiseled from stone and is a robust 6’3 215 pounds. 😂

I have no issue with people self-identifying as MAGAs. Go for it.

Also, I assume 90% of white, US-born pro athletes and coaches are MAGAs.

It will be short-lived, my presence here, but I hope all is well with you.

And I agree. I am a big 1A proponent and of the Constitution in general, but I am also a believer in no one being above consequences. I also believe (i.e.) LeBron James’s political opinions matter as much as any public figure’s does—no more, no less, than anyone else’s.

Take care, man. Give my regards to all of our fellow Harvard folks. 😉

What’s wrong with your Google?

This is not an extraordinary claim requiring extraordinary evidence.
Abdul Carter...geez. He will retract before this is over.

During the NFL draft, Abdul Carter (@1NCRDB1) wore an Islamic political chain while his family showed up in full burqas.

Funny how Abdul loves shoving his religion and politics down America’s throat but melts down when his teammate Jackson Dart (@JaxsonDart) attends a Trump rally.

The left are such hypocrites.

Hope you have a great summer, teach. @dpic73 over here has been losing his cool about my Harvard education since I showed up. I told him Jealousy wasn't a good look but he just screeched at me about how I'm a fraud and he likes dudes (not sure why this was relevant for him to bring up but he found it to be important).

Don't be too much of a stranger friend

Well said. Abdul should stfu if he has any little bit of sense.

OK, for those of you who are not NFL fans, please allow me to identify the folks involved here:

1. Jaxson Dart is the second year quarterback of the New York Football Giants. He is from Utah, graduated from Ole Miss, and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Yesterday he introduced President Trump at a political rally in New York, not too far from New York City.

2. Abdul Carter is a second year edge rusher for the New York Football Giants. He is from Philadelphia and graduated from Penn State. He is a devout Muslim who prays to Allah on the field before games, and is extremely open about his faith in and out of the locker room. When Carter saw that his teammate had the temerity to accept the honor of introducing President Trump, he ripped him on X.

3. Both Carter and Dart were 1st Round draft picks last year, and both had strong rookie seasons. Giants’ ownership and management hopefully consider them to be the cornerstones of a team-wide revival to be led by new head coach John Harbaugh (a Super Bowl winner with the Baltimore Ravens and also someone who is not afraid to meet with President Trump). (That optimism exists even though Carter could not stay awake in team meetings last season.)

So with that background in mind, I have this to say to Abdul Carter:

Muslim terrorists destroyed a large swathe of New York City in the name of Allah, yet you are accepted on your team and in NYC, and no one challenges your beliefs or your right to express them. So how about you shut the fudge up, focus on learning how to sack the QB at the NFL level, learn how to stay awake in team meetings, and stop tearing your team apart when your teammate is given the honor of introducing the President of the United States of America?

This is a free country. You are free to worship a deity that enslaves women, and Dart is free to say hello to the President. How about you just accept that, Abdul?

Deal?

I disagree with Kapernicks stance, but respect his right to do so.

There is a direct correlation between the number of trannies and when free speech was returned to twitter. Correlation is not causation, but there is evidence there.

And yes, I believe gender ideology is quack science and any doctor practicing it should have their license removed. It’s akin to prescribing a diet for an anorexic person, it’s malpractice.

Yep. Thats why if I'm Dart's teammate I just keep quiet about it and roll my eyes. I want that NFL money.

What are you talking about? How would this be pushing "politics" on anyone? You think the same way about athlete "christians" pushing their faith constantly on the field and off?

Or just when it's muslims or any other creed you don't like or want to discrimate against?

You're really not very smart are you?
