DEI Business Practices at Its Worse

Every day I read another new story about the idiotic financial management of the WNBA and the Golden Girl Caitlin Clark.

The clearly racist practices of the WNBA are so stupid that the DEI lovers would rather try to hurt her career rather than ride the profit wave she is riding in on.

She is number 2 in Jersey sales for men’s and women’s league basketball. Her appearance sells out formerly almost empty stadiums.

Even my granddaughter and wife want to watch her every game. Sponsors are racking it up with her .

Sometimes it’s smart to stop being so RACIST and instead turn into a CAPITALIST you moronic folks in the WNBA as those in charge are dumb as rocks as Caitlin Clark is scoring big dollars without the blessing of the racist WNBA structure.

Good advice for you WNBA folks to learn what I will paraphrase from Martin Luther King as that don’t judge the color of a basketball players skin as to their value in making making money and killing the marketing but by the ability to draw the crowds with money.

I'm not a women's basketball fan, but I admit to watching parts of the fever games. From the times I've watched it seems as if opponents of the Fever are literally out to injure Clark. And, from a purely financial POV, that really seems dumb. Since Clark entered, the WNBA salaries are higher, they now fly to games, attendance is up...and the league seems to have taken some positive steps. It's like opposing players want to killed the goose laying the golden eggs.

"I want to say I’ve earned everything, but as a white person, there is privilege,” said Caitlin Clark in a recent interview with TIME Magazine . The rising WNBA superstar, who made history with her standout debut season, openly acknowledged her privilege in a league built on the hard work and talent of Black women.
She continued, “A lot of the players who have made this league what it is are Black women. The more we appreciate, highlight, and talk about that, the better. Brands and companies need to continue investing in those players who have made this league extraordinary. Elevating Black women is a beautiful thing, and I have to keep working to help change that.”
Clark is not only breaking records on the court but also using her platform to speak out on systemic issues, including racial inequity and the importance of spotlighting Black women in sports. Fresh off of being named Time’s Athlete of the Year, Clark continues to set an example for young athletes by leveraging her success to advocate for change and inclusion.

So the league that was completely broke and in danger of shutting down using the business practices of DEI are to be praised for the huge recent success and financial improvements and sudden huge success of Caitlin Clark who caused that is to be literally assaulted in many games out of jealousy

If the WNBA geniuses had brains they would be showcasing the Fever and Caitlin Clark in every game without regard to skin color but to again milk the Golden Goose dude

This is show business and if you want to make money stick your ego where the sun does not shine and support Caitlin Clark and her gracious words helping the previous people who could not make the league successful

This happened similarly back in the day with Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and also Micheal Jordon who because the league did a great marketing job propelled the NBA to new financial heights

Get over wanting to beat up on white people and learn the financial management lesson of cash flow beats some racist DEI policy

Your talking to a bunch of Iowa fans, we are pretty familiar with her support.. You can't make Clark into a golden idol and DEI as your whipping boy. The financial situation on the WNBA is exponentially more complicated than DEI=bad.

Do you think that changes the validity of the OP?

What Clark is trying to do is admirable, but her comments are a complete misappropriation of the term “privilege.” It also flies in the face of reality. Since when have black athletes in the WNBA been underrepresented or not recognized for their contributions to women’s basketball? Seriously? I get why Clark feels compelled to make such a statement, but it’s absurd.

For all I know, the WNBA has grown in popularity because for some people it’s fascinating to see a white person excel in basketball. You would think the fascination would have ended around the same time most people got over being in awe of a black quarterback, but many people lack sophistication and are still easily amused, so there’s that. Of course, it’s also possible people are just that enamored by the female version of Steph Curry and aren’t really thinking in terms of race. Or, likely, it’s a mix of both. Who knows? And honestly, who cares?

Regardless, OP is right. Caitlin Clark receiving some type of reverse Jackie Robinson treatment is only shooting the WNBA brand and its financial interests in the foot. Tbh, though, given how petty and catty women tend to be, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Clark being white is secondary to the issue of how much attention she has received, which is what it’s likely all about—attention.

So, yeah, I don’t see any need for Caitlin Clark to white knight (pun maybe intended) for black WNBA players. The fact is the WNBA is an entertainment business enterprise that for most people just doesn’t provide the entertainment value they are willing to spend money on—and that would hold true if the WNBA were comprised of all or mostly white players. Sorry, but truth is truth, and people just aren’t/weren’t buying the WNBA product like they are other professional leagues (many of which are dominated by mostly black players). It’s just how capitalism works.

I will end my soapbox with this: if Caitlin Clark wants to take up a cause advocating for black women, I would be more impressed if she propped up those black women who are good leaders, educators, mothers, wives, professionals (in business, science, medicine, etc.), and who are strong pillars in their communities; these are courageous women—many of whom have overcome bigotry, misogyny, stereotypes, stigmas, and un-level playing fields to become who they are. Those types of women deserve more recognition and respect, especially since most black girls, many of whom will never grow up to become an athlete or entertainer, need those types of role models to look up to. That, to me, is a nobler and a more worthy cause than pandering to the ridiculous grievance culture that apparently still permeates the WNBA.

Why does it have to be her race thats popular, have you ever watched her actually play? It’s endlessly entertaining. Maybe people are just drawn to her by the way she plays, I know I am.

If you need a list for some reason make your own

If I made one you would spend every waking moment attacking me

Just to be clear I see it a lot of black on white discrimination but the good news is I am a bigger man than the people who want to practice it

I succeed at live and live my life

Being white is not a problem for me as I love not the color of my skin but the character of the person I am as I practice Conservative Christian
Middle American lifestyle valuing opportunity meritocracy and literacy
