A severe cold is being mentioned as a contributing factor, although the official cause of death has not been listed.

I have mixed feelings about this one, on one hand it's tragic when anybody dies young(Busch was only about 4 months older than me), Busch however was noted as being one of the biggest jerks out there with the way he treated other drivers, his crew members, and the fans. I'll leave it at that so as not to flame on the guy any further at this time, I'm sure his family as well as NASCAR is devastated over this.

He was a serious racer, he wasn't concerned with winning any popularity contests. He was focused on winning and didn't tolerate anyone or anything that wasn't.

It is a scary story to me that an apparently healthy 41 yr. old can get sick and die in a few days. He won a truck race last weekend and appeared fine in post race interviews. I wonder if the cause of death will ever be released?

NY Post is reporting his family found him unconscious in a racing simulator (at home I'm assuming) and he was rushed to the hospital where he later passed. Sad stuff

Kyle embraced the villain/heel role. Undoubtedly one of a small number of drivers who could be considered the most talented to ever do it. As Darrell Waltrip said a few years ago, Kyle Busch was the only guy who could get three-wide all by himself.

Fom reading Earnhardt Jr's statement about Busch it sounds like they weren't close until recently when they became friends after putting their differences aside.

Its better to be silent and thought of a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Could be. I`m trying not to be critical of anyone, but did he get evaluated as soon as he started coughing up blood? If you start coughing up blood you should go to the ER immediately.

Somewhat conflicting accounts. One says he was found unresponsive in simulator.Other says EMS reported he was dizzy, hot and coughing small amount of blood.
We’ll have to wait until report comes out.

Awful! 41 and coughing up blood with no real symptoms? That sounds really weird to me and shouldn't take long to figure out. Prayers to the family.

I listened to a doctor on the news earlier suggest that or possibly an untreated sinus infection that turned into pneumonia.
"The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications," the Busch family statement read. "The Family asks for continued understanding and privacy during this difficult time."

Apparently he'd had cold/sinus symptoms for weeks. Very unfortunate, but my guess is Type A/hard charger who may have understimated just how sick he was.

In hindsight, Busch should have been in a hospital and not practicing on a racing sim. ☹️

Yep, sad. This quote was interesting. "Busch had been struggling with a sinus cold exacerbated by the intense G-forces and elevation changes at the New York road course.”

Sounds like he was determined to race and the high g forces made a possible sinus condition worse. He still dominated in Dover in the truck race. The guy was a competitor to the end.

I would have never thought of this, but fighter pilots may have similar issues if combining high g forces + elevation changes with some kind of sinus condition. One of the reasons combat pilots have flight surgeons.
