Is he chunky or am i hating
He definitely needs to get in better shape, but some guys just shaped like him. As long as he can play minutes and not be tired I don’t care what he looks like. I bet he can get inside and bang a little at least. He just needs to hit the weights and cut down about 4-5% of body fat and lean out a bit.

If Ansley Almonor was a little fatter, had a handle, and shot a little worse he’d be Justin McBride.

Solid bench 4. We’re in trouble if he has to be more.
Loved the minutes Ansley gave, definitely think McBride is more offensively versatile. Still think that the 4 spot has a chance to be vastly improved from last year, but will definitely be played by committee rather than relying on one ‘star’ 4

What exactly did you love about those minutes? Guy played 14mpg and averaged 1.6 rebounds. As a power forward. He hit a three here and there when someone else did the work and kicked it out to him. There were rebounds and defensive plays where he didn't even move or reach towards the ball. If you love that, then what don't you love?

Remember when McBride was a must get by all the Pope bashers and when he did not commit on his visit there was collective moaning from that crew? And now here he is working hard wearing UK apparel and the talk is exaggerated about his weight. I wish we could arrange one-on-ones for each of those posters to express to McBride how he can be successful. LOL!!

Mississippi State on the road and UT (x2)...did you not watch those games that year? We lose without him and thats exactly the production you want from a bench player.

A bench 4 shooting 42% from 3 while scoring double digits in multiple SEC games to help cut deficits/give or extend leads and he gave energy when Carr’s back was spasming. Not saying he was perfect by any means, but he was a damn good backup who knew his role. Also let’s not act like he was the only poor rebounder and defender on that team. He did what he was supposed to do, all bench players leave something to be desired, if they didn’t then they wouldn’t be on the bench.

I loved the 13 points he had against the at the time #5 ugly orange on 2of 3 from 3pt range. Which is primarily what was asked of him.

Fair enough. The 3pt shooting is indeed valuable. IDK I can only remember one game where he came in and really was a net positive. I mostly remember him as the useless guy who I couldn't wait until he got subbed back out. He did hit some big 3s, though.

hating but just a little, a ton of really talented ballers just a little chunky and that’s what makes them great
Actually, I like a lot of Centers built like that, especially when they have good hands and push their way around. But for McBride I'd like to see him get his body (and likely conditioning) a little better before the season.

Oh for sure, as an undersized 4 he didn’t add much athleticism or versatility, but his role as a shooter when he was wide open he was pretty dang good at! Do wish Carr was healthy the whole time, really thought he gave that team everything they needed

Carr was HUGE in that Duke game. I would go so far as to say he won it.

I like his game. Will be rooting it translates to the SEC. I think he’ll be effective.

Off topic observation: that floor with the blue on the sidelines disgusted me. Lol

He kinda reminds me of Draymond Green in college.
So he reminds you of the guy that was first team All American, Big Ten Player of the year, and National Player of the year?

To me, he seems like the guy who will start at either the three or the four for UK, and is a well-rounded player.

He appears to be better than Williams to my eye, although I really like Kam's game.

Kid looks like a ball player to me. Guys that size are tough to get position on if he knows how to get to the spot first. I like him.
