Nebraska is never going to be able to compete in this arms race. College Football is turning into the haves and the have nots.
We never would be able to, and it’s kind of painful to see. Lots of people were ignorantly saying things like “open up the checkbook”. That’s all fine in theory, but thinking it was gonna help NU more than other teams? That’s the part that never made sense to me.

I think many thought that with the ability to pay players legally would even the playing fields a bit. The cheaters would have less of an advantage. Also since nebraska athletics has no debt and is aggressively supported that our budget may be fairly competitive. At best it’s a moving target

There’s gonna be 6-8 elite programs that are heads and tails above everyone else. The only ones with a real chance of winning a national championship. Everyone else is fighting for a chance just to be in the room. T

Orgeron's last 2 stops, the head coaches he worked under got fired then he took over. Orgeron may be the kiss of death....
This may be my only satisfaction, that teams with a chance to win a title do not meet fan and donor expectation. LSU can win 95% of their games and if they don’t get the title, that ain’t good enough. I will enjoy their misery.

You mean like Indiana? Leadership matters.

I don’t think Indiana will have the luxury anymore of sneaking up on their opponents they will get everyones best shot they will become the hunted, i look for them to fall off a bit
Depends on what you mean by falling off? Will they go undefeated every year? Probably not. But they have a great coach who knows what he's doing and plenty of money. I expect them to be relevant every year for awhile.

I still think he's an above average OC neutered by the horrendous OL development.

He is at worst a much more competent coach than Rhule.
I liked the hire and still hope that Holgorsen puts the offense together, but I am worried that he's more suited for the Big 12 than the Big 10. I admit it looked decent at times last year.

100K though? Yeah n Baton Ruge that's a lot of money, but..... my immediate thought is he's still married and he's sick of his wife.. cause 100K is criminally low for him to do, anything. But i guess if he's happy that's all that matters.

He got divorced in 2020 and had to give his ex-wife half of his buyout from LSU. Here he is new wife.
