Unbelievable. I never want to hear another words from you MAGAts about Democratic politicians engaging in any kind of grifting. This socipath puts the ALL in the shade. You can pretty much guarantee that it will continue until and unless he encounters some kind of affirmative bar to his activities. You can also pretty much guarantee that he will attempt pardon a raft of grifters and crooks, including not only his entire family but also himself, just prior to leaving office. What would be great is if he has a sudden stroke an dies before being able to accomplish any of that.

[A] one-page document posted on the DOJ website early Tuesday includes a sweeping release under which the IRS is “forever barred and precluded” from pursuing “examinations” of Trump, “related or affiliated individuals,” and related trusts and businesses.

The waiver specifically encompasses “tax returns filed before the effective date” of the settlement, which was Monday.

So you are good with the IRS never being able to investigate/audit anyone in Trump's orbit?

Maybe after they investigate Pelosi, Biden, Harris and Omar to name a few.
What do you think?

let's be honest about all this..nobody in office or who has access to inside info should be trading stocks....No whataboutism...nobody. And somewhere there is a leader that will make this limit into law.
Agreed, but it is not the IRS's job to investigate insider trading. That is the SEC's job.

This is purely about the ability for Trump World to commit tax evasion.

The lawsuit was over the release of his tax returns from, iirc, around 2005 through 2020. The waiver from review of his returns covers returns filed through Monday, which would include, at a minimum, returns for 2021 through 2024 (might no include his 2025 returns if they are on extension).

What is the justification for waiving the ability to review returns filed in the more recent years? They were not a part of the suit in any way.

Here's the interesting thing. There is no "settlement agreement." Trump dropped the suit. The judge didn't sign off on anything. The idea that this pronouncement is, in ANY way, enforceable under a new administration is laughable.

Drumpf fired the head of the SEC. No investigation will be forthcoming.
