RF Jacob Parker - definitely a corner outfielder, probably best suited for RF.

CF Aiden Teel-assuming Teel returns and I’m not sure he would have anywhere to go, this would be his job IF he can get the the booger bears out of his head in the field and at the plate. Otherwise, a portal newcomer.

LF James Nunnallee-again, lots of work to do with the bat between now and January if he decides to stick around. Possibly Peter Mershon steps up here or another portal pickup.

SS Ryder Woodson- dude really came on end of season after getting replaced for a few games. I think the job is his next year.

2B Chone James- this again may be an off season pick up if James has to stay at catcher.

1B- Peter Mershon or Newcomer. Looks like probably need a major portal pick up here. IF—big IF, BOC finds a top notch catcher in portal or true freshman, and Milewski comes back, Big Lew, may get a lot of off season work here to see if it is a position he can transition to to help him get his hitting for power and average bumped up about .70 points.

C Kevin Milewski- if he returns, he may be our best available here if portal or freshman phenom doesn’t sign.

3B- No Idea. Probably a portal pickup.

rest of returning eligible:
Charlie Wortham
Tanner Beliveau
Nick Frontino
Andrew Raymond

That is it. Without looking at HS/JC commitments.

Find a portal SS and move Woodson to 3rd

I will be shocked if Teel returns. Nunalee was disappointing this season after starting the first weekend maybe he will be better next year.

I think our portal targets will be power bats at 1B, 3B, & at least one outfield spot. We could target an elite SS & move Woodson to 3B.

I certainly agree that State is going to have a ton of power to replace. If not, it will be Parker and a bunch of Punch and Judy hitters depending on outstanding pitching.

We've got to find 2 OF's, a 3B, a SS, a 2B, a 1B, a C, and a DH.

I'm just not sure we have the folks currently on the roster to fill those, so I expect those positions to be filled by incoming HS players or portal transfers.

Our incoming HS class is rated pretty high (top 10), but there are several kids that may be draft risks (Brick/C, Shelar/OF, Maniscalco/SS, Danza/SS, Strohm/C,1B).

had you rather we talk about the football roster?
We're a lot closer to starting the next football season than we are to starting the next baseball season, whereby the whole roster could turn over between now and then. So, sure. We can certainly discuss the football roster.

Good summary, and it tells me that we have a lot of work to do in the portal in the offseason. If we go into next season counting on that many guys to magically become everyday players, it's going to be a rough season

Not with that pitching pending no injuries. However high floor, low ceiling kind of deal. Has the potential for Omaha team with pitching and plug in holes at batting/ fielding

Yeah, there's a lot to be excited about with this pitching staff next year, and they do have a chance to grow into the elite category.

That said, I'll maintain that our offseason plan for the lineup can't be a wish and a prayer that guys like Nunnallee, Teel, James, and Woodson are gonna slide right into the roles currently filled by all-SEC caliber players in Ace, Chance, Sullivan, and Frei. We've got to have serious competition at those spots, and true freshmen aren't going to typically fit that bill either.

Maybe saying that we have a lot of work to do in the portal was a little much, but we badly need 3-5 guys that will push for opening day spots in the batting order.

Why? Do you tunnel-vision nimrods view the baseball program like the football program? Where they gonna go?

I'm really not sure why our fans give up on players after one season. Especially Nunnalee. What if we'd given up on Hunter Renfroe?

Just no sense of development.

I think in the case of guys like Teel & Nunnelee they’d be transferring down to get playing time. And not necessarily by their choice.

Teel will go pro if drafted high enough. He is a good prospect just had a bad year & has a brother in the majors.
Nunalee was a big recruit. He is really good defensively and might be a fit for CF next year. I could see him transferring down if BOC recruits over him.

As for pitchers - do we turn Bauer into a starter next year and roll out Tomas/McPherson/Bauer as our weekend trio? Or let him be our Aroldis Chapman?

If Teel doesn't return, it will be his decision - not State moving on from him. O'Connor has a soft spot in his heart for Teel.

We can hope! Teel and Woodson had ample opportunity to improve and didn't. Woodson picked up a few hits the last couple game but still led the team in KO's and fewest walks and barely kept his avg in the .200's for part of the season. Teel man I don't know I saw glimmers of light but a lot of nothing too. Nunnallee was a day 1 starter and I don't know why..

Teel was reliable as hell the majority of the year. Many people are letting the last 4 weeks or so cloud their memory.

I hope he is back and starting in center for us next year.

Not true. He got off to a horrible start the 1st 3rd of the season. Played much better the next 3rd then got hurt and played like **** since.
