At :26 seconds......... that is a great hesitation to keep that DB off of the ball. Looks like a basketball move, bumping the defender on a drive to keep him from blocking the layup. It's subtle but you don't see many college wr's using it. Looking forward to seeing him this Fall, hopefully he stays healthy!
Diaz, James, and RVZ and a QB that can get them the ball. Definitely looking forward to this season.
Doesn't prevent the team doctor from giving injury updates on the pregame show every week of the season.
How did this kid miss out on any Division 1 offers? Dudes a stud on the field aa he’s cat quick and speed to burn with great separation speed… I hope the staff utilizes his talents to the maximum potential
Pretty sure he's got some toughness, as a blocker, too.

Not sure how you define "maximum potential".
Certainly, you don't want the ball thrown to any one receiver, on every play.
But agree with everything else. Think there might also be some leadership skills there. Tony seems to play with a lot of heart
Don't forget we beat Alabama to get him out of the portal, so that's something. I think Tony has quickly become a key piece in the passing game this year. While RVZ is still my #1, Diaz appears to be the real deal, and Lester plans to fully utilize his skills to turn our passing game around.

It would be great to have a dominant WR. I can't recall one since McNutt (does that count?)

It starts with Lester and his desire to improve the pass. I've listened to a lot of his interviews, he always talks about expanding the playback and that there's a lot more he'd love to call during games. I think these past teo years we've only scratched the surface of what he wants to run. RVZ, Diaz, and Parker will all have to step up and be the change the program needs.
What, exactly, starts with Lester?
The program needs a change? In what way? And why?
I would assume this change is for the purpose of more wins.
So, Iowa is supposed to win 10+ games this season by way of RVZ, Diaz, and Parker stepping up?
It'd be great if that happened. And I'm not saying it can't play out that way.
But given that WR is the least important position in football, I'm doubting your algebra to be as straightforward as you think it is. I wouldn't be putting too many eggs into that basket. Certainly, not where my focus is with this team.
And 10 wins wouldn't necessarily be reflective of a distinguishable jump ("change") in the program.
So we're talking at least 11 wins before "program change" can start gaining steam as a conversation potentially rooted in reality.
And given that you've previously posted you only expect Iowa to win 7 or 8 games this season, iirc, just what necessary program change are you speaking of?
Whatever it is, must not be very necessary, if it results in less wins.
It seems perhaps, wrong priorities have again left you with weak algebra.

Following up on my previous post, ESPN agrees that we have to get more out of our passing game. Diaz will be a key piece in getting more out of our low rated passing attack.

Then you said you were done responding to me. But instead continued to address me by posting through a 3rd party.
Then, with the merger with this site, you announced to be back at it. You introduced me to all the newcomers by many of the same mischaracterizations that you always use for me. Then proclaimed to everyone that you had again decided to take on each and every one of my posts with ferocity, and vow to add me to your "evisceration list".
When the stupidity of your subsequent posts got exposed, you quickly retreated into name-calling, emojis, and the occasional gif.
Then, you were saved. A miracle bestowed upon you, as you learned that my intentions as a poster, were something other than what you'd thought. By your interpretation, I became an illegitimate poster.
It saved your life, as you no longer had to worry about being wrong, like you often are.
But of course you were 2Dense to not completely misinterpret my intentions for posting, which were broken down in detail for you, one a couple of occasions. Certainly, another case of your perspective to have been shown to be 2Dimensional, at best.
At that point you announced to be done with me again. But of course, continued to address me/refer to me through 3rd parties.
And finally, you have announced several times to have created a deletion code for me. Maybe that's what you meant by "evisceration list". Since that time, you have continued to reference me in posts, and turn up doing so in threads I've posted in.
This is what all I know. It's all beyond mind blowing, as it is.
Now we have your recent behavior, which reveals you to either have not deleted me, or to be hammering home a point, to a guy you deleted a month ago, by way of arguing with yourself. Either way, it's all 2Different.
I'm literally a little concerned for you, 2D. You say a lot of stuff that is 2Dumb. So it's going to be hard. But I'm going to try to lay off of you for a while. But I hate being mischaracterized, so I'd probably avoid bringing me up too much, if I were you.
Some serious advice:
-Calm down to a point where you are actually able to hear what people are saying. You once, absolutely blew up for an entire thread, after I had simply said, "run the ball". Perhaps find some healthy outlets for your anger/frustrations.
- You have an awful habit with how freely you mischaracterize others. You do it to other posters, as well. Have some respect.
You turned 3 simple words, "run the ball", into all sorts of things I had never said. Never pass. I hate the pass. I hate receivers. I hate Lester. I'm not a Hawkeye fan. You literally still believe this crap today.
And with some of it, I've specifically said the opposite. So again, read better.
-Learn who to listen to. In football, that takes selectivity.
-Don't jump onto the generic, superficial level narratives so easily. Again, when it comes to football, so many of these leave a lot to be desired.
-Start thinking for yourself a little more. And be confident about the truths that took some uncovering to find.
-Don't be so concerned about how you appear to others. Have confidence in yourself.
-Maybe take a break from the message board a few times a year. I don't want to see you get too worked up.
As for the ESPN quote, this is the generic type of stuff fans need to be careful about getting carried away with. It proves nothing. And it says nothing to support your sentiment that a program change is necessary. Or that it must be a change to more passing

Makes me wish we had Mark one more year. What helped with WR's like McNutt and DJK is thay they had a competant QB in Stanzi. Bit of a loose Canon at times, but we was able to place the ball where he needed to. More than we can say for anyone after Stanley and before Mark.
If Diaz really is the real deal, that begs the question if we have someone who can deliver the ball to him in a somewhat consistent way. The jury is still out after spring practice.
I'd have really liked to have seen what ISM could have done with Stanzi (or any decent QB) and a good OC.
I have my fingers crossed with our QB situation and Diaz. For now, I have hope, which is a whole lot better than things were a few years ago regarding the passing game.
I think Heck is our guy. He's got that same moxie that Tate and Stanzi had, but more mobile than Stanzi, who was at his best when rolling out of the pocket, but wasn't shifty enough like Tate. I think Heck's only physical concern is his size. But that never stopped Tate. I'd really like to see us sling it against the first three cupcakes on our schedule.
Why? ISM averaged 9 wins over 3 years and was on pace for 9 in his covid shortened season. I'm fine with what we got to see during ISM's career.
And good thing your lack of hope in the passing game didn't amount to much on the field
thread topic at this time of year had me worried he’d hurt a shoulder while giving his gf a manicure or something absurd like that only to find out even more absurdly he thinks budmayr is actually a gift from heaven.
If these guys crank it up, they better have the old check book ready for 2027
Lets hope so! Really need some guys who can get open and make things happen after the catch. I was excited when we landed him over many other programs.
