Spencer Jones finally gets his chance...called up to replace the injured Dominguez, who was called up to replace the injured Stanton.
Tough break that his first MLB at bats will be against the Brewers flamethrower who throws over 100 mph.

And he threw 103 mph over and over and over again...for strikes.
And Fried had an awful second inning that made the game pretty much non-competitive.

That first inning of 103 MPH pitches was pure insanity. How does his arm not just fall off?

Rodon is back... starting today's game in Milwaukee. Hopefully he's ready and the bats wake up after two days of next to nothing from the Bronx Bombers.
I would like some more winning, please.

Boone is an idiot. A real wizard tonite.
Why bring in Headrick to face a right
handed batter in that situation?

Makes zero sense.
And one more thing, get rid of that dumbazz Chisholm.
Then, to top his idiocy, he doesn't pinch hit for Scheuman.

Boone wasn't the one who hung that curve ball to that mediocre hitter that provided all of the offense Baltimore needed to defeat the Bronx Bombers. This team can look like world beaters for two weeks and then struggle to even score runs for four straight games (so far).
And BTW, Wells looks even more lost than Chisholm. He has all of five RBIs so far this year.

Higashioka would be an upgrade as catcher.

Perhaps the pitching staff just likes Wells.

Jazz is such a loudmouth and created this entire situation with his 50/50 talk before the season started. Now, he's literally watching his millions in future contract money disappearing week by week. Can't handle the pressure of a contract year.

Yankees with one hit this afternoon.
That's with a lineup that included these "hitters"...Grisham .175, Chisholm .203, McMahon .196, Jones .083, Volpe .000, Escarra .182.
Oh, and Max Fried had a second sucky start and left the game early with elbow soreness.
Yanks 1-5 thus far on the current road trip.
Perfect time for the subway series.

At least Volpe played a solid game at shortstop. Oh wait.......

Why on earth did it never occur to mgmt to not have a right handed hitting catcher?
Hell, it would be fabulous if either could get the ball out of the infield with a guy on 3rd and less than 2 outs.

Of course, if the team had a guy that could hit >.200, it might not be as big an issue.

And Bednar...36 pitches to get a save.
Yikes!

Great matchup tonight: Yesavage for Jays (1-1 1.40 ERA) vs. Cam Schlittler (6-1 1.35 ERA) for Yankees.
Big win last night...Will Warren now 6-1.
Doval with first save...a very shakey one.
BTW, I haven't posted here since at least last thursday 'cause I have been in the hospital since last friday....released yesterday afternoon.
I'm okay.

No one has any idea where the ball is going when it leaves his hand.

Not going to win alot of games when Judge KOs 4X.

Takes wayyyyy too many pitches.
You're not gonna win a lot of games when the opponent's pitcher has the stuff that the Jay's starter had. You're probably gonna need a dribbler up the third base line, followed by a walk, followed by a sacrifice bunt that gets mishandled by the catcher and first baseman, followed by another walk. And maybe a sacrifice fly.
Yesavage was just too tough last night.

We've rehashed this a thousand times, but this freaking team just has too many unproductive outs with the unbelievable number of KOs in games.
How does the hitting coach still have a job?
Motto: Swing hard in case you hit it!

I envy teams like the Rays and Brewers that have contact hitters.

Cashman's Yankees will never win another WS with the current approach.

It's an organizational issue. Every coach is hired to follow the hard contact velo philosophy. New coaches are yes men that just buy into the system. Case in point: Aaron Boone.

And it's pretty clear it isn't working.

2009.
14 Ks tonite and most of the swinging strikes were 2 feet out of the zone.

Absolute garbage.

These morons have been preaching contact velo and launch angle for over a decade. How much longer until they realize it's a dumb idea that doesn't work?
