Joey Chestnut, the reigning champion and 17-time winner of Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest, will compete in the July 4 spectacle while on probation after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge.

While I am not defending Chestnut slapping some guy at a bar, I would like to know more about the story. Chestnut said he was drunk and doesn't remember and accepted full responsibility, however, I bet the guy he slapped was being an arseclown instigator like we have seen so many times where people try to say and do stuff to get celebrities to react. Whatever, I used to enjoy watching the eating contest until I saw Chestnut and others the day of the Big 10 Championship Game where we lost to Oregon competing to see who can eat the most Shrimp Cocktails. I was kind of gross to watch in person.
