I guess I’m confused as to why they would not be calling for white athletes, families, fans, etc to do the same.

boycotts rarely work but a perfectly fair tool in the toolkit.

How long is it going to be before some 50 year old white lady gets pissed off at the C in NAACP and tries to get their name changed?

I don’t understand this boycott to be limited to the south. Boycotts work based on economic impact.

You don't understand what is happening re redistricting?
You don't understand the difference in the geographic locations (Ohio being the exception)?
You don't understand how the above are effecting different racial demographics differently?
You don't understand the difference in college sports participation?
You don't understand the relationship between black student athletes and college revenue?
Or you don't understand why white folks aren't the lever to be pulling?
Or are playing stupid?

This might help you...

For the record, I do think it's the last question above.

I understand redistricting quite well, and the boycott as a response quite well too. But in the broader world, d’s win races not simply on the basis of black votes, but also on white liberal votes. So too with putative economic boycotts, and particularly where you’re talking about a world where consumers (ie, tv eyeballs) ability to influence the university revenue model may be limited under media contracts, and where modern athletes will mostly cave based on their economic payday.

or you could just do it to vent, which is fine too but like your post, does suggest its own racial inferences.

Where have you been? They already attack white liberal voters. They turned NC from a 7-7 congressional delegation to an 11-3 bunch simply by carving up white liberal voters.

…Which, to my point, would be all the more reason to appeal to white liberal voters to join the boycott. Wouldn’t it?
