full text of the tweet:

Passing LeBron, Luka, and Wemby in jersey sales truly sounds unreal

But that's exactly what Caitlin Clark has been doing since her WNBA debut.

The latest data shows that the No. 2 spot for the top-selling basketball jerseys since 2024 does NOT belong to an NBA superstar. It belongs to CC and the WNBA.

Here is the official Top 5:

#1: Steph Curry
#2: Caitlin Clark
#3: LeBron James
#4: Luka Doncic
#5: Victor Wembanyama

Think about the sheer gravity of the names she just cleared. We’re talking about a global icon with over two decades of branding, a superstar with an entire continent behind him, and a generational phenom. The Caitlin Clark effect is real

It is remarkable, no doubt about it. I would add some context as far as Lebron though. I'm assuming those are sales just since 2024. Lebron is 40+ and has been in the league something like 22 years. I'd imagine most people wanting "a Lebron" have purchased one along time ago. Of course he did join the Lakers years ago so new merch opportunities there for him. Certainly CC22 being ahead of Luka, and Wemby is pretty amazing since they are the "now" guys in the NBA.

Some interesting betting lines in the W tonight. Indy is still a 10-point favorite even without CC. Dallas is only a 2.5-point favorite over Chicago even though Rickea Jackson is out for the year with a torn ACL. And Seattle is only a 1.5-point favorite even though they’re playing at home against the worst team in the league.

I’m not a gambler, but if I was then I would take Portland, Dallas, and Seattle ATS.

I could be wrong. But I think this year for the Fever will largely be about laying the groundwork for CC to play elsewhere.

Just a lot feels “off” with that relationship right now.

I can’t imagine them ever letting her go. She’s the biggest star to ever come to the league; if she wants White gone, or the GM gone, you go find a new GM and you go find a new coach.

That’s right. It’s gonna be her decision after next year, and she can give strong indications anytime.

I’m not totally convinced the Fever are as totally committed to CC as everyone thinks. Nor convinced CC would win a White/CC power play. Pay attention to Fever attendance, non-Fever ratings, etc. Regardless, CC soon will have all the leverage.

That’s insane, but this is the W we are talking about so no stupid decision would shock me at this point.

Back in the early '80's I got tickets for the wife and I to see a country music star, whom I really wanted to see for a long time. At the last moment, he cancelled. Talk about disappointment. Can't imagine families with kids who were ready to go, and itching to see Clark, get the news at the last. But, that's life I guess.

Here we go again. :(
Hopefully not. She looks fine. White made some comment about it being their 4th game in 8 days. Then in the next sentence she denied that it was "load management". I get the feeling if they weren't playing the Fire, who look below average at this point, she'd probably be playing. Another team like Seattle without a dominant big, so they can get away with out getting pounded in the paint. And yes, Gus is on that team now, but she's not a true big in this league.

I never understood the cagey reaponse to this.

if it’s load management, which is totally reasonable, then just say we will take opportunities during the year to rest CC and KM and AB when/if it makes sense. We realize this is a huge inconvenience and frustration to fans who pay to see these players. And we wish we could offer more advance notice of when we might do this, but it’s fluid and we want to make sure it’s the right time and right game. Sometimes we don’t know this until day before or day of. We think it’s in the best interest of the players and our team for maximizing success during a long season if we employ this load management strategy given the physicality of the game.

Load management kicks in at game #5?

No, it's a fact. There is no "C" in GOAT.

Read better and/or try not to mischaracterize.

Because I have attached post #3908 for convinience. If you're going to take quotes from it, you might as well properly characterize the context of the particular paragraph.

As we see here, in paragraph 3 of that post (that you've quoted), the context clearly reveals my having spoken about not personally ever using the TERM, "college GOAT".

If I want to discuss the greatest women's college player, I will do so using those words. I will never refer to that player as the "college GOAT". I will never refer to any greatest college player as, "the college GOAT", IN ANY SPORT. I'm not sure what's difficult about this to understand
There’s no P in GOAT either, so you can’t use it for professionals either.

When this game ends, if White is asked about KM's impact on the game, I want her to say that the team as a whole came together for the win, like she does when asked about Clark's performance.

The thing is, those tickets were already sold. People paid money for those seats and when they heard CC wasn’t playing tonight they decided “Screw it, I’m not even going to bother fighting traffic.”

There were a LOT of tix left in the upper levels.
