Have u ever been to a big east tourney. Cuse fans galore in the nyc area

Ru wont have more than 3-4k fans tops
Big East Tournament? That was 15 years ago and they were one of the best teams in the country. Their last true OOC game in NYC was at the Barclays two years ago against Maryland. It had 8K in attendance and about half of it was Maryland fans.

Syracuse probably still plays zone defense which Rutgers iso half court offense will have a hard time scoring against.

All the new dudes can hit the trey…even the 7-2 center hit two last year. Outside shooting should be a strength. Defense will be the question mark IMO.

Syracuse is expected to be in bottom third of acc if not basement

Yeah - but he didn’t need to schedule another non-conference game away from home period let alone a major conference team. Even a bad ACC team is still very different from scheduling the worst low majors possible in Piscataway.

There’s nothing to be upset about with this one IMO. It’s not an A-10 team in some obscure location like Canada or Hartford. It’s not a random true road game at Fordham the day after a holiday. We’re probably not desirable enough to MSG right now to be able to schedule someone we have a chance to actually beat there.

MSG probably didn’t want the game, not a big enough draw.

If Pike wanted a neutral game that was non-league at a prime venue Syracuse was about the best brand he was going to find that could be a winnable game for us, but isn’t like scheduling Howard or someone like that. It’s understandable if MSG didn’t want the game but Barclays is fine. Obviously the Pru would’ve been more convenient like when we played Miss St but whatever. At least we scheduled another high major. It’s a pleasant surprise as I really did expect all Bryant types at home.

I am a huge fan of Barclay’s, it is a great venue for basketball and the locals turn out for games. As I mentioned in another thread, there are probably more Rutgers grads in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens than there are a half hour drive from the RAC. If you want to build support for the program you need to play games like this.

It's a 20 minute subway ride from Penn

If we look any good you'll all be there and you know it
Everyone keeps saying this. It's 100% true obviously and a lame excuse for people to not go. The people who are refusing to go are either scared of the potential subway patrons, or too lazy to learn how to navigate it.

For those who don't remember, RU beat Vanderbilt and lost to Virginia in a tournament at Barclays when Eddie was the coach.

If our fans, as a group, can’t go to Brooklyn for a game vs local rival, they suck. Some people legitimately won’t be able to make it but I actually believe Rutgers fans will go. Rutgers has a lot of good fans that actually support the program - the silent majority. The handful of vocal Debbie Downers here probably won’t go because it’s way easier to sit at home and complain.

3 sub 500 seasons plus Syracuse has been just as bad during that period and is predicted near bottom of ACC so its really not a must see game beyond diehards. Add in its at Brooklyn not Manhattan or Newark and it slices off a couple thousand fans.

A game against Mississippi St inNewark coming off a ncaa appearance was poorly attended on a Saturday

Everyone isnt itching to drop $125 -150 plus for a game like this adding up cost of transportation, food and tickey

Not sure why you would be judging Rutgers fans given the past 3 seasons

Didn’t we score like 30 points total Vs UVA? I remember it being an embarrassing offensive game.

Think we beat Vandy as I was at that game.

I missed UVA game because I think I went to see RU at MD football game.

As bad as Syracuse has been recently this is definitely a rivalry and a better draw for Rutgers fans than MSU. That was also a noon game, in Newark, and 2 days before Christmas.

Do you think this will be any different timing

We led Virginia, 18-17, at halftime! That's when the fun ended.

We were outscored, 28-8, in the second half. Lost, 45-26. Ugly bssketball, to say the least.
