Honestly, Massie made some votes that weren’t beneficial to the big picture objective.
There were some principled positions I agreed with him on, ie ending proxy voting. I like the line item veto approach. Breaking bills up instead of omnibus. But, when you fail, and he did fail as he was unable to garner enough pre-vote support, he needed to get inline with the party. He didn’t, he instead acted like a 4 year old. He became a problem for the broader objectives. And worse, just like MTG, the little bit of power and the hard core following went to their heads and they lost site of the bigger picture. It sucks, Massie isn’t a bad guy, and I agree with him on a lot, but he played his hand wrong and became a distraction instead of an ally. He had to go.
