Way to ruin this board too with all the political rants and this truly is from both sides. Put down the keyboard and go work out, take a walk or jog, a bike ride, go eat at a place you’ve never been but stop with the politics 24/7/365. You people are insufferable.

Really? By people here in this forum? Interesting. Haven’t seen that. Uhhhh. But nice deflection.

Yes. I've heard the stories of how the noble republicans freed the slaves from the evil democrats. Haven't you?

No deflection. Do you really think liberals are rednecks? Really? I wonder how the venn diagrams for that would look.

Is that a serious question? Places that have tons of white people and zero diversity like - Iowa Maine Delaware West Virginia - are full of teva wearing dorks and Chris Stapleton fans. They’re worse than rednecks, they’re pretend rednecks. My wife is from upstate NY - rednecks everywhere, way more than where I live in SC, wayyyyy more - and zero black people. So yea, I think some libs are absolutely pretend rednecks. What do you think?

Sure, ignores a lot of historical context, but sure.
Like what? What context is ignored here?

The political party that led the push to end slavery in the United States was the early Republican Party of the 1850s–1860s.

Key historical points:

  • Abraham Lincoln was a Republican president.
  • Republicans in Congress were the main political force behind the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which officially ended slavery in 1865.
  • During the American Civil War, the Republican-led Union fought against the Confederate states, whose economy depended heavily on slavery.
  • Emancipation Proclamation declared enslaved people in Confederate-held territory to be free.

Yes, like I said, technically correct.

The context is modern times and the switch that happened decades ago.

So how’s that ignoring historical context? It’s factually and historically accurate yet there seems to be a problem from the left. Do you think when people say the “nazis” that means modern day Germans? Do we need to stop saying that nazis committed the holocaust because it happened decades ago? This is my biggest issue with the left. You will split hairs on shiit like this - but a guy with a functioning dick is a woman, no problem. It’s unreal. Have a good day.

So, are you a fan of increasing funding for education?
Increasing funding of school choice voucher programs maybe. Dems have proven that throwing more money at government schools doesn't work at all. Libs will spend 20 to 40,000 dollars PER STUDENT in states like Illinois, New York and California yet less than half the students are proficient in literally any subject. The problem is dems only actual ideas are throwing other people's money at problems and assuming that will fix things. A useless party.

It's what the people want. I've started several non political threads and combined they don't equal the page count of a single political thread.

Isn’t that historically accurate? The bold.
I guess it is... right up to the point where you look at it.

Absolutely, the Republican Party was the party of Lincoln. So much so that after Recostruction in the South and the people who took part in the Civil War were allowed to vote again, the South became a solid Democrat voting block, so much so that the "Solid South" was a whole thing. The Solid South was responsible for disenfranchising African American voters for most of the next century. After WWII, the Solid South began to crack a bit with Eisenhower carrying a couple of states. But things REALLY started changing when Kennedy/Johnson were elected. Both were in favor of Civil Rights and pushed that hard. After Kennedy was killed, the Civil Rights act was passed in 1964. At that point our own Thurmand changed parties to Republican and Johnson was quoted as saying "I think we just delivered the South to the Republican Party for a long time to come."

So you can definitely pat yourselves on the back for being a Republican for that, but not too hard b/c all our families were Democrats during the times you are referring to.
