Keep the pitching rotation the same as it's been the last several weeks
Assume getting 2 games in to avoid getting rusty and go home and rest would be my thought. I’d think they would have him an 80 or less pitch count tomorrow.
Did you see how Missouri’s hitters were smoking that powerful Ooe Miss pitching staff? State probably has been told a loss to Big MO will kill their chances of hosting but a victory will likely solidify it.
Feels like a “make sure we win at least one” move and then anything else is gravy.
I’m kind of ambivalent. I get the necessity of winning if you’re worried a Missouri loss knocks you out of hosting due to the RPI hit, so that makes sense. Maybe a different story if Ole Miss won today, but he’s probably pitching regardless. I just don’t want him pitching in game 1 of our regional
I’d say it’s the rest thing. He would get extra rest before the regional if you pitch him now. Or I guess you could pitch him again if you advance far enough.
We’re already hosting.
Good lord. He not pitching again until hopefully next Saturday. I don’t think 8 days rest will be any different than 9 days rest.
Today is a must-win from an RPI standpoint. Nothing after that really matters.
A loss to Missouri (Q3 on neutral site) could drop our RPI down into that iffy range (currently 12th). Best to take care of Missouri so we can face Georgia (a Q1 game that would help our RPI). Win or lose, the UGA game will strengthen our RPI
A loss to Missouri only dropped Mississippi from 15 to 16. Were 78 points above #15 Oregon. We’d drop to 13 or 14 but no further. Still if you can’t beat Missouri with your #3,pitcher the regional won’t matter.
Don't expect to see him pitching past inning 3 unless he's thrown less than 40 pitches and has a perfect game working.

I know you can't plan things like this around the weather but looking at the weather forecast FWIW I'd say there's a chance this tournament goes into at least Monday . I'd place my priority on keeping my rotation in order and let the chips fall where they may .
In one scenario it's the post season , you throw out rotations and its all hands on deck when needed.
The other scenario says assuming most are right and we will now host, its the meaningless SEC tourney. Pitch whoever needs the work and don't worry about it.
They'll cancel the rest of the tournament before they play on Monday.
They can't play on Monday because the NCAA Tournament selection show is Monday at 11am central time. The tournament champions have to be decided before then for automatic bid purposes. The tournament will either finish Sunday, or they will just cancel it and give Georgia the automatic bid as the regular season champion.
