one of the worst beers ever created

As a kid in Tallahassee, me and some buddies used to haunt a couple of joints owned by the same guy. Fred’s Back Door and his Dry Dock were bars attached to liquor stores.
The liquor drinks there were big boy pours, as in, a Turkey and Coke was ice, pour just below the rim, and wave the coke nozzle at the glass on the way past.
Even at $1.10 apiece, you didn’t buy very many. A house brand was 60 cents per drink.
The other option, since they didn’t serve wine, was Schlitz on draft at 35 cents a pour. I learned to drink beer in that place. Schlitz was never a favorite, but drinkable.
I chit you not, these prices were mind blowing then, much less now. We could go out with five bucks, drink, and still tip well for that time frame. BTW, this was back when the drinking age in Florida was a robust 18 years of young age.

Don't worry, this stuff is starting to pop up all around here. I'm sure it's delicious.

In 1968, Jerry Lee Lewis released his hit song: "What made Milwaukee Famous
has made a Loser out of me" This was a reference to Schlitz beer and Jerry
losing his girl friend because he could not stop drinking.

Hamms, Blatz, and Strohs were some other low end swill I have “heard about” over the years.
my Dad drank Blatz. He would buy it by the truck load. Beechers in Dubuque would wheel out cases by dolly.

We would drink Huber because it was like 10 bucks a case.

The smell of a bunch of empties sitting around a beer pong table the morning after a party.....I can still smell it. It's not pleasant, but my memories of it are quite fond. Good times.
Ugghh, your post reminded me that ciggies were an ever present component back in the day. Waking up to a table of empties, many with butts swimming in them, and overflowing ash trays was a disgusting moment.

Think of that ping pong ball going onto the floor of your dorm or apartment house and rolling all over. Then getting picked up, along with whatever had accumulated on its surface, and deposied back into the beer you were obligated to drink if someone got the ball into your cup. Yikes..

All while you hope someone rubs it on their junk and gets it in your drink.

Do explain "deposied."

Dang, I just thought about a dive we walked into on a work trip a year or so back. This joint had toothbusting cold tall boy PBRs for $2 (?) during happy hour. Afterwards we walked back to the restaurant at our hotel in the old train station for a good meal. Whisky Dicks in Scranton, PA was a throwback to earlier days…

Edit. The PBR’s were $1.50 as confirmed by a sign in one of the pictures on the website. The crowd was decidedly older the night we stopped by.

I know the guy who owns Outlaw. His competition is Busch lite and he knows it. For about 25 seconds I thought of being their Midwest distributor.
