I buy community whole bean too. I think it's clearly the best of the 'big' coffee brands.
Gotta give credit to starbucks for figuring that out though. Have the shittiest coffee you can find, fluff it up with copious amounts of milk, sugar, creamer oat milk (healthy!) etc, charge $7-8+ tip and scale the 17 out of it = profit.
Probably comes off as me being a slight coffee snob but i'm really not. I've always observed people that complain about weight gain, finances, and energy but they 'have to have their morning coffee' so they go spend $8 on a drink loaded up with sugar, fat and a little bit of caffeine every. single. morning. Before 9:00 AM alot of people have already sucked down over 30 grams of sugar, 2-300 calories of drink that has half the caffeine content of a standard cup of coffee and then complain about low energy in the afternoon. Maybe stop having a damn milkshake every morning would be a good start.

There is a Rouses in Ocean Springs, Biloxi, Gulfport, Diamondhead and Hattiesburg.
There was an ACE hardware years ago . It use to be Vanlandinghams, when Lowe’s opened up it closed, plus Bells was a much better option.

Ace was never going to compete with Lowe’s East Mississippi Lumber, Discount Building Materials and Bell Building Supply in town. It was a terrible idea.

If Bells is still as good as they used to be that's tough to compete with in a small town that also has a Lowe's.
Would love to see them get in the old McDonald's that are as part of the convenience store on the other end of 12.
I worked part time at Discount Building Materials when in school back in the late 80's. It was great place with a husband/wife team as the every day staff. They taught me a ton about business, customer service, and just generally how to be a good employee. Good memories.
I’ve only been once but I’m pretty sure my wife got one the slightly coffee flavored milkshakes and I got an actual coffee. It was just fine.
I’ll stick to my two scoops of Colombian per 12 ounces of water at home.
The current owner is a solid human being as well. He worked for the original owner for years before buying it. He and his wife are running it, so it has the same feel.

They’re building a Dutch Bros in Oxford currently. Guess it makes sense since roughly half the student body appears to be from Texas these days. They already have a 7Brew which is a traffic nightmare on Sunday mornings.
The Oxford 7Brew is a traffic nightmare every morning. I have to turn left on University right past 7Brew and the line is out in the road every morning while the students are still in town

I've never heard of 7 Brew either, but just checked and they're all over the place here.
Are there any Dutch Bros locations there? Good coffee and the friendliest staff I've ever seen - pretty much at the Chick-fil-A level.
There's a Dutch Bros just a mile or so down the road from me (in Madison, AL). It's in the Publix parking lot.
They have really good coffee, but also have the Starbucks-type fru-fru drinks.Grocery store locations are strange. There are no Kroger grocery stores in Birmingham, AL. You'd think that a relatively large metro like that in the South would have a Kroger. I enjoy my daily 20 oz yeti of coffee, but I'm not a coffee snob. However, I did learn a lot about coffee on a tour of Greenwell Farms, a small producer on Kona a few years ago. Since that day, I've been a dedicated customer and only purchased their coffee. It isn't cheap, but it is good. When I forget my coffee and partake of the Folgers from the company pot at work I can only stand a few sips. On second thought, maybe I am a coffee snob. Edited to add... The exception to this rule is when I'm away from home in Starkville. Then it's Strange Brew of course!
Hate to see ACE closing. Starkville can’t expect to attract and keep great businesses if the community isn’t willing to support the ones already here. Maybe it wasn’t run perfectly, I don’t know, but Starkville has a long history of businesses struggling because local support just isn’t there consistently enough.
In Starkville you have a Lowe's, East MS Lumber, Bell Building Supply, and Discount Lumber. That doesn't include the plumbing supply stores (like Southern Pipe and Ferguson Supply), free standing paint stores ( like Sherwin Wms and Farrell Calhoun), rental stores, etc. Then, you're only 20ish miles from Columbus so how many can Starkville support?
Mine was more of a general statement. Starkville has a long history of not supporting local businesses. Just look at this thread with people already crapping on 7 Brew. Someone is investing their money into “your” town. You don’t have to personally support it financially, but constantly trashing every new business doesn’t help anything either. That mindset is one reason major retailers and larger companies can be hesitant about coming here.
