Of the group of Tong/Wenninger/Thornton, Thornton probably is the least dynamic and has the lowest ceiling. But he may be the most MLB ready.

Zach Thornton will be called up to make his pitching debut on Wednesday
Zak - what can you tell us about your namesake Zach Thornton?

I read the same as well that Worm posted that Thornton May be the most ready to pitch in the majors as of now compared to Wenninger and Tong.

Does he throw heat or more relies on placement etc?

Is Lambert highly touted and is he a starter or reliever?

Thanks

Given Senga's seeming fragility, the mysterious but unabating loss of Manaea's velocity, the not wholly satisfying Peterson appearances, the uncertain timing of Holmes's return, and the other shoe that always seems ready to drop, we'll likely see all of three of those guys.

Just talked about Thornton on SNY. 4 pitch pitcher, fastball sits 91-95. Coming off a very good start.

To your last question, Lambert is a reliever. He is highly touted, but like Wenninger has had problems throwing strikes consistently.

Hey Phil!

Thornton as a LHP has the best control/command in the system. Really knows how to pitch and can throw different pitches at you. His FB is low to mid 90s. He throws a really good mid 80s slider. He also has a cutter, change, and curve. He goes right after matters and doesn't nibble which I think many of us are going to enjoy. I was impressed when I saw pitch in ST.

Wenninger even with the low ERA is walking too many guys right how and his velo is down a touch. Tong has been really up and down so far and working on that 3rd pitch.

Lambert is purely RP with a crazy good FB. He also walks way too many people so he's been working on that.

We'll probably see Dylan Ross and Pintaro before him at this point. Ross also has a big FB but but as good as Lamberts. Pintaro more of a long man/middle RP for now while the Lambert/Ross duo hopefully end up late inning.

Some 12th inning! Glad to see Bichette get the bat going. Need to eliminate his mental mistakes but he'll come around. He's too good not to.

Need Kimbrel to get this one over with now.

Counting down my most three memorable plays of the extra innings.

3) Ewing flying into the gap to cut off the double and leave the winning run on third.

2) Brujan's bad bunt that turned out to be a perfect bunt.

1) Baty's throw to force the runner at second, which proved to be a game saver. Like a QB who has a tiny window to make the throw, says f-it, and puts it right where he has to.

Great game tonight in San Diego. Yamamoto vs. King
Pods win on a first inning homer by Miguel Andujar 1-0.
Headed back to NJ to see my family this summer. Stopping on the way to see two Padre/Braves games. My first time in Petco since 2019.

Good win yesterday- ended up being really fun. Am a little cautious on thinking the bats broke out as many of the runs yeasterday were slow pitch softball.

But the kids- Ewing, Benge and even Baty and Vientos are getting so much fun to watch.

I also love seeing more bunts in the past week then I have seen in full seasons...

BTW - Need Baty to just get more consistent. Because, when he catches one- he hits them as far as anyone in baseball.

Ask and you shall receive. Morabito up, Slater out.

What this tells me is that the Mets do NOT hold Morabito in the same high regard as Benge or Ewing. Otherwise they would not bring him up to be a bench player.
Well he's not the and type of prospect as those two were. More of a 4th OF type on a good team. He does play great D and can run so I wonder if they put him in LF and have Soto DH. Soto could have some stuff bothering him.

It's almost as if some of us were saying the season wasn't over yet in April. Still a lot of work to do and it sucks they dug themselves a hole but one step at a time. There's still a lot of talent in that clubhouse but no more injuries!!

After being the worst team in MLB, there are now 8 teams worse than the Mets. It has been a nice run. Keep going!
The Mets were never the worst team in MLB. They were the team with the worst record in MLB. Big difference.

And yeah, I know what Bill Parcells said. He got a lot of things right, but not everything.

Tonight Morabito will do something that no Met has done in 25 years. He will wear #8. That number had been semi-retired in honor of Yogi Berra and/or Gary Carter. Not anymore. Not sure how I feel about this.

The number is either retired or it's not. I was a little too young to see Carter play in his prime unfortunately. With everything I've seen and read I wish I had the privilege to watch him more and remember.

Anyways he's only wearing the number tonight as he'll be changing it already.

TBH Met fans didn't see him in his prime either.
