I'm visiting my sister in law in Roswell next week, and I am taking her to an early birthday meal. Me an the brother in law are steak people, but my sister in law has some digestive issues with beef, (which I don't understand), but want to work around. She prefers chicken pork or fish. She is balking at the cost of Ruth's Chris level restaurants, but I want to do better than Longhorn's or Salt Grass.
Any ideas?

Just get the lemon pepper wet wings from J. R. Crickets and enjoy the best non-food truck / home cooked wings I've ever had.

What I’ve found to be best in the ATL metro is the ethnic places. Georgia in general isn’t known for something in particular like BBQ in AL or soul in MS or Cajun/Creole in LA. Down south you got the onions/peaches/pecans and such but not so much metro ATL.

There are just so many to name. This Reddit thread may help:

Funny enough it seems breakfast is a big thing. Especially biscuits as you get in the mountains but that’s not what you’re asking for here.

Whoever said Georgia isn't known for BBQ doesn't know **** about BBQ.

If I am ever in Atlanta again (Outside the airport) my first stop would be either Marietta Diner or Heirloom Market BBQ. Heirloom Market is a married couple. He is from Texas and she is from Korea. They met in the service. Amazing Texas BBQ with a Korean twist.

The ethnic options are fantastic as well. A favorite of mine is Canton House for dim sum. It's in Chamblee IIRC.

Haha, “whoever said”, nimrod. Ain’t nobody ever said Georgia and BBQ in the same sentence. Anybody who sells it will tell you that, they are trying to raise the profile.

Couple things...

Georgia bbq does suck for the most part.

Marietta Diner is very overrated, but Heirloom Market is great.

Lived there for years, but I really only know ITP. I worked in Marietta so ate a few places there. Went to Mac’s Chophouse a few times. It was good 2 of the 3 and had some weird whisky pricing (Weller 12 at $20 is a great deal, but had some common stuff for way too much). Don’t know Roswell

In Roswell on Holcomb Bridge Rd is Brookwood Grill - has good steaks and not as expensive as the steak place on Canton St in downtown
Other options in downtown are
1920 Tavern and Salt Factory.
Zest is really good if you sushi

Best bbq in Atlanta is Fox Bros!
No need to try anywhere else.
It is the best. Atlanta has some BBQ places with good, broad menus, but wouldn’t put the meat up against a lot of places elsewhere. Fox Bros is good all around. Fat Matt’s is the most like a hole in the wall. Sweet Auburn is pretty good, but good sides, nonBBQ menu items, drinks, etc.

Have not been to The Local but did try Wing Factory about a month ago and they were good.
Better sports bar atmosphere than Clays
I don’t live in ATL anymore, but I have family in Acworth and visit 1-2 times per year. I will have to check out Clays next time I’m in the area

Assuming you've never had two brother's smoked wings at the Dude on the Saturday night of an SEC series?
I have. It's decent but it's not world class. I've traveled a bunch and I love chicken wings.

JR Crickets clears it.

Sweety Eaties Food Truck in Tallahassee is the best I've had anywhere.

Ray's on the river in Sandy Springs is very good, and close to Roswell. Steaks are going to be Ruth Chris type of price but they have other menu items that are more reasonable. Menu linked below.

Buffalo Reef in Ft Walton has really really good wings as well.
I’d suggest this place if you’re ever close to FW

Wasn't old guy that was messing around with Will Redmond from Roswell? Think he even posted on the boards, maybe ED. Maybe he's still around and give a recommendation...
