ISU fans have been salty to say the very least, since Matt Campbell ripped their hearts out and took half the team to Happy Valley, but you'd think with basketball going on, and as we get into the true off-season of major college athletics, now, that ISU fans would finally be getting over the break-up.

Cue Matt Campbell to throw gas on the smoldering embers declaring that while the water in Ames may be top notch, their food selections suck compared to State College, located in the true middle of nowhere Pennsylvania.

And boy did that basically reignite this entire hate boner that the Cyclones now suddenly have for Campbell and the Nittany Lions. 😁

I bring this up, as an off topic discussion, because it involves a B10 foe that we share quite a recent history with in several sports ourselves, including football.

If any Iowa fans had hatred toward Penn State, especially if you're still bitter about the whole Sandusky scandal and how PSU and the NCAA handled it, well I'm hear to tell you that you now have friends in the good, old-fashioned "enemy of my enemy". In fact, I couldn't name a fanbase out there right now at this moment that despises Penn State football entering the 2026 season more than Iowa State fans.

I'm sure some may not care, but I love good crash and burn entertainment, and ISU fans excel at it, especially when it comes at the expense of interacting with a fanbase like Penn State's.

It's certainly made for a fun off season. Not to mention the conversations of Penn State thinking they're back and that Campbell is the savior they've been waiting for.

Another interesting point has been the changing perception of Iowa State fans. First, they were wishing players and Campbell well, but as time has gone on, they have become increasingly resentful of them, partially due to Campbell's comments about Ames that he's made recently.

For the Clown fans, it's complicated. Campbell is arguably one of the most important coaches in their program's history, and they were ready to build a statue after another squeaker victory against us (despite going like 5 years of losses against Kirk to start his career). But to leave for another program and taking his whole team with him, leaving them gutted, more or less disqualifies him from ever truly being honored in Ames. He may get a plaque or two, but this is a bitter ending between the two parties.

Here's hoping seasons for both teams crash and burn.

Mr. Evil is one of the pillars of this forum (see Biblical cosmology - Wikipedia ), without him (and several others) the Cesspool would vaporize into nothingness. Therefore, in the name of all that is holy, don't eliminate his Apeness!

Did I just scroll thru this entire thread and not see a link to an example of the salty banter between those fan bases? Surely there has to be a posting on X or Reddit or some sports forum where can read and enjoy said fans going at it 🤔

I have no idea what State College has for food, but when Hickory Park is hallowed ground, that means you’re in a place that doesn’t have Jack Schitt for options.
Clown town and Iowa City aren’t even close when it comes to dining. Places like the Webster, Orchard Green and Baroncinni don’t exist in story county. The Webster is rumored to gain Michelin status. Clowns wouldn’t even know what Michelin means outside of a tire that is too expensive for their brand of rubber.
