We didn't fire Royal. We've obviously dumb shlt but even we can't mess up that bad.
If you look at the entirety of MSU's football history, you really wonder how we're still here. Thank God we joined up in the SEC but besides that decision, there hasn't been many good ones. Every good decision was made out of some dysfunction, like Byrne being promoted and hiring Mullen, Dr. Z hiring Jackie, etc.
And get this, the SEC HQ was originally in Jackson. Had we kept any football staying power (by not firing McKeen), maybe we could have helped keep it there. It had already moved when Vaught started rolling at Ole Miss.

I am not disagreeing that he was ran off b/c of something stupid (including style of offense).

What likely happened is fans are morons like they are now vs a few "key" boosters.
McKeen’s leaving is documented in a book by Mike Nemeth. A businessman offered MIss. State $50,000 provided he could dictate the offense. McKee wouldn’t do it and Morton would.
Looking at our past head to head records is painful. From 1931-1970 we only played LSU in MS 4 times.
During the Depression our athletic department almost went belly up. LSU bailed us out. One of the conditions of the loan was we had to play them in La. for the next 25 years.
Yes it’s true a very wealthy alumni who wanted to change offenses decided he would run the coaching search. There were some other things going on as well
After his first season without a winning record in 1948 with a 4-4 finish, alumni began to turn on McKeen more so due to political reasons than pure wins and losses and McKeen was fired in one of the most egregious errors of judgement by the university in its history.

Why are you digging in on this. It happened 80 years ago. Dudy noble fired Mckeen mainly due to Sanders and others wanting to change offenses.. it’s factual it’s. It’s been printed.

I didn't have a link, I told you what my sources were. You really are the lone ranger in this thread. You never even presented any information, you just argued with those who knew what happened. Kind of funny how we all pretty much were saying the same thing. The guy in that link by the way, his sources are pretty much the same as mine from what I can see. He talked to people who were around at the time. It's not like this was some big secret. Everybody who was around back then and actually cared knew what happened. I had several people tell me the exact same thing.
