"New poll ... shows devastating numbers for Donald Trump and his party. At this point, if Democrats cannot win the House and make a real run at the Senate with Donald Trump having numbers like these, they may well be doomed as a party?"

It will be interesting to see what gerrymandering accomplishes because it lowers advantages in areas that were safely red before hand. If the margins are big enough for Democrats some interesting stuff could end up happening.

What is the alternative to the Democrats? More unproductive fantasizing?

The Republican party now is openly an Un-American and anti-American personality cult, but let's pretend the Democrats have problems.
To be fair the Dems do have problems - many of them.

But their problems are like a tiny campfire compared to the raging hellfire that Trump and crew are using to burn down American norms and institutions .

The senate isn't changing hands in the middle terms regardless. Thankfully for dems this means it will still be mostly worthless in doing anything for either party's agenda.

The house IS up for grabs, but democrats polling is terrible and their legal fumbling in the map redraws gives Republicans a huge advantage.

Likely outcome is Republicans have a narrow majority in both after the mid terms.

The Senate is absolutely up for grabs and redistricting has no impact on those races.

"One year ago, the question of Senate control in 2026 seemed settled. Indeed, unlike the House, which Democrats were long favored to win, the Senate map was far less hospitable. Now, an increasingly hostile political environment for Republicans has put the upper chamber squarely in play for Democrats.

President Trump’s approval rating — 38 percent — sits at historic lows. As New York Times Chief Political Analyst Nate Cohn pointed out, this is lower than in 2018, the last time Democrats had a blue wave election. Cohn noted that Trump’s numbers are lower than former Presidents Clinton and Obama in 1994 and 2010, respectively, two elections which saw Republicans win “sweeping midterm victories.”

As a result, prediction markets — which had given Republicans a 70 percent chance to keep the Senate last May — now indicate a coin toss."

Well if an opinion piece from the hill told you so then it must be true 😂

Reality is Republicans are keeping both the house and the senate. Especially with ICE being deployed to polling locations in November:)

UK economist Gary Stevenson explains why centrists continue to lose badly. For those who don't know him, he is a London School of Economics grad who made millions as a trader. He did not come from wealth but rather grew up poor. Later, he became disgusted by the impact of the current economic system on everyday people, quit his riding job and devoted himself to addressing inequality.

Why are the far right doing so well? And can it be stopped?

If we can get Gen Z to the polls, it should be a rout.

Poor Dpic when will you learn about polls? Its a long way to Nov and much will change by then... PS- Just in case you didnt notice Orangeman has plenty of juice, see the primary results. Getting rid of rinos and replacing them with America first. Next congress will be way more MAGA than the current with way fewer rinos....

The thing is Dems have been doing it for decades and really cant squeeze anymore juice out of those lemons. The Reps on the other hand have plenty of juice they can squeeze. Pass the Save Act and the deal is done. Make elections fair again...

Bragging that your party will be even more amoral is not the flex you think it is. It would have been a wipeout of historic proportions if not for the corruption being pushed by the worst president in our history and enabled by the Supreme Court.

The primaries mean nothing, it's the generals that will count and we will still come out ahead in the House. Mark it.

This is terrifyingly true. TACO still has plenty of time to continue his FUBAR agenda at the expense of America and its citizens.

Does it really matter? How many seats do the dems need to impeach his ugly orange ***? Without amendment 25, who cares? He is the king and is just going to do what he wants anyway with the stroke of a pen.

You'll learn with TRR that evidence and facts mean nothing. The only thing that's true is whatever comes out of the Great Pumpkin's mouth. Jesus himself could tell him that Trump is lying and he would laugh in his face.
dpic, I don't know if you're seen the current estimates of the house races. The "experts" predict that there will be 210 safe/leaning Republican seats and 207 for democrats. If accurate, that means there will be about 18-20 seats that will determine the control of the house. (have no idea about the Senate).

By all that is going on we might think that 2026 is a slam dunk for democrats, but TBH I don't have any idea how all of this redistricting is going to play out. I really haven't paid much attention to all the states and districts being affected. Have to seen anything that does a breakdown of all the changes?

LOL, the labor party just got voted into obscurity in GB and they actually had an identity.

The republican mindset was "race to 2026" thinking the dems would gridlock the **** out of the last 2 years. At one point I thought the regression to the middle would look obama-esq. Somehow, someway, the dems have royally **** themselves and the repubs might maintain both.

People are sick of middle age whiners bitching.

As long as people like Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are the congressional leaders of the party, the Democrats will find a way to f*ck it up.
You are not wrong man. The Democratic party has to look in the mirror and say to themselves that they are such crap as a party that DONALD TRUMP got elected President (TWICE!). It doesn't get much more bottom of the barrel than that.

I could not agree more. This should be an absolute slam dunk, but it won't be.
