I’m probably one of the few who doesn’t think this is completely black and white. I think he actually did have a setback with his knee after playing in a game or two instead of making something up just so he could sit out and pout. He clearly wasn’t moving the same after the St. John’s game.

I also do think it seems likely that at some point, a decision was made to focus on draft prep instead of getting back in game shape for us. What I can’t say without actually being involved in his treatment is how late in the season that call was made or how close to 100% he could have reasonably been if he tried to suit up again.

After seeing some videos of him work out. Yeah, not on team JQ these days. I was more cautious until we got some better info. The knee is always going to swell most likely. It's recovering time in between games and practice that will improve.

Everything before the St. John’s game is free and it’s fair enough to call that injury based. Everything after the St. John’s game was bullcrap amounting to grand larceny (threshold is only five hundred dollars) as clearly proven by the dude’s combine performances. When you’re paid as much as he was, it’s not remotely ethical to refuse to play under false pretenses because you’re concerned about how the way you’re being used might impact your draft prospects if you keep the money. If his concerns about misuse and draft exposure due to coaching problems it would have been perfectly ethical for him to refuse to play and return the money. But that was obviously never on the table for that thieving bastard.

I think Pope did UK dirty committing so many resources to a big with a torn ACL and broken knee.
That was a calculated risk that did not work out. JQ potential was worth the risk. The bigger risk that hurt the team the most was not having a true backup point guard that could steady the ship. Had the Cats had a true backup point guard Lowe could have shut it down early and might have been able to return in late February and been available in March without surgery.

I don't hold Coach Pope responsible for JQ. The risk was worth it. Had JQ decided to not wear a dress he could have been huge down the stretch for the Cats. Not having a true backup point guard was inexcusable and looking at this year's roster Coach Pope knew where he messed up last year.

Idk if he did or didn't but I voted yes because after he "reinjured" his knee his loud mouth daddy started talking crap and we never heard another word from JQ so yea he did us dirty even if his injury was real.

JQ is a big boy. He could have spoken up and said something. He was all smiles and happy go lucky until Pope didn't let him play PG. His silence after sitting out struck me the wrong way.

Glad he's gone. Dirty or not dirty
His big mouth dad was still running his mouth on Twitter as of yesterday. Retweeted a clip of JQ doing drills and said how hard he worked and then took a little shot at fans who doubted the legitimacy of his injury.

Funny part is the clip is of him mostly moving around and dunking. He absolutely wouldn’t land on his right knee. Dude is a ticking time bomb. No way I’m taking a chance on him with a first round pick. His upside isn’t enough to gamble on if he will stay healthy or not. If he had any offense outside of 6 feet then maybe it’s a different story.

Acaden Lewis proved last year that he would have been a solid backup to Lowe. For some reason he ran at the last second. Aberdeen as a combo, Lowe as the primary, and Lewis as the secondary PG would have been solid, IMO.

I can’t speak for the guy, but the part where his dad complained about his use after he stunk up the joint against Alabama, and then never played again makes me think it was more than a swollen knee. Possibly a bruised ego and a contusion to the draft position.

I liked JQ but it turned out like a lot of people thought it would. All along we heard how he was ahead of schedule and receiving the best care only to play in 4 games and that’s it. I really thought things might be different but it cost Kentuckys a— big time with money and the disappointment with the way it turned out. The program can’t afford to do something like that again, no matter how good they are.

Look, this stuff is going to become pretty common place now. UL was pissed bc Adidas and his dad shut star guard Brown down. Their coach couldn't complain too much bc Adidias paid the fee for him to go to UL. Cards didn’t cover a dime. Cost them a pretty good season too when all was said and done.

Same with us, but Nike didn’t cover the tab for JQ. Pope has to own this one, bc it was a HUGE gamble and cost UK NIL millions… for what? A win over Rick?

Don’t recruit a kid with a torn ACL. Bad idea unless a redshirt and ample time to heal. It was a foolish and desperate idea and backfired. That’s on the captain, #41!

You must literally be blind then. Pope has been railed relentlessly to the point of ridiculousness over this.
Not the way Cal was. Not even close on this specific matter. Remember Hamidou Diallo? Many people accused Cal of allowing players to commit knowing full well they would never play.

Pope has absolutely received criticism, mainly regarding recruiting, his lack of success as a coach, etc. I don’t recall anyone accusing him of allowing JQ to use UK as a stepping stone and increase his draft stock.

People say Bruce Pearl and whatever coach also wanted JQ.

There's a big difference tho. They wanted him for a penny. Pope got him for a dollar fifty. Pope does himself dirty every day. When's the next flight through Israel?

Did we ever have a chance at shaba shaba before he went around saying how weird Pope is.

Got to go across seas to get players to say the truth. The American players hold their tongue because politics and gatekeeping in America is different. You don't see many players doing what Freedom Kanter did. Mos American players fall in line like American citizens and American forum posters lol

He didn't have a torn ACL or a broken knee. Maybe before he played for UK. Keep up.
Ummm what did he have then?..... BBN is truly in denial. Word his acl tear a little different so it fits what you said. The man had a blown out knee and was in recovery when Pope signed him.

Denial has gotten us to where we don't raise hell over ninth place sec seeds. Football has been finishing ninth for like ten years and it's been the best seasons for many. That's not where basketball is supposed to be.

Where does this even come from? We have had quite a few posters actually demand he be fired over JQ.

You are just pulling things out of your butt to support your agenda. No one actually has any clue what other schools were offering him or what UK actually gave him.

Blown out ACL. You were wrong. So post a man yawning because you have no other options. You were wrong. And you still haven't showed me them ta tas
This should get you banned yet again. Apparently it does no good though since you immediately start a new account and there is no improvement in your behavior. It makes sense if they were altering your posts like you said. That is probably the best way for them to deal with you.

That also is clearly not what was being addressed. You claimed the rest were offering him peanuts and Pope broke the bank more or less.
Ok unless the forum is completey untrustworthy then I will go with what everyone said....and that was we gave JQ millions. Idk how many but it was millions. You don't give a player with a blown out knee millions.
