Specifically, the 3rd party drivers.
these cats are dangerous. From my experience, they are speeding through my neighborhood, looking at their phone (directions I’m sure). I assume the more deliveries they perform, the more they make, so they are in a hurry!

We live in a culdesac and they fly down our street all the time, kids everywhere. They don’t give a damn. To be honest they drive like school bus drivers.

amazon/walmart delivery people have dropped packages off outside of our neighborhood gate 2 times now because it was closed; the gate closes at 10pm and opens at 5am. We figured out where the first one was before someone on the hwy saw it. The second one, we didn’t get to before someone else saw it. The main entrance is always open but they would have had to drive an extra mile and a half.

They get paid by what Amazon calls a block. The blocks have a firm start and end time. You’ll get your full pay if you don’t complete your block, but your future chance in booking more blocks is impacted.

I’ve looked into as a way to earn a little extra money. With gas being so high it’s not enough profit.

We live in such an entitled neighborhood. Amazon delivers to our customers. Many of those deliveries happen between 5:30 and 6:30....in the morning. The ones I find concerning are the uniuni drivers who seemingly never speak any English at all, and therefore are just trying to hand a package to a random person who will nod.

Fuel prices and foreign policy, it’s going to get really expensive to deliver all of those packages

The grocery and incidentals home delivery model using vehicles has never made a lot of sense to me, but I admit I've never dug into the numbers.

I recall the days of Dominos 30 minute delivery guarantee. Those drivers were hell on wheels.

my 1st boss out of college started his IT consulting firm with the money he got when a domino's driver mowed down (and killed) his wife trying to make it in 30 minutes.

pretty sure there was a string of similar incidents that caused dominoes to drop that policy.

Yeah. There were several big payouts Dominoes had to pay. In hindsight it was a bad policy.

I worked for Dominos during the 30 minute delivery time. When it takes 7 minutes to make a pizza it wasn't really that difficult with the delivery area restrictions.

I could see this Amazon delivery thing going badly at some point. The "quality" of some of the people doing their delivery combined with serious time pressures just seems like major liability is in their future.

Can’t remember if it was Amazon, UPS or someone else delivering. But a package was being delivered to a neighbor several months ago. The delivery guy had a “conference call” BLARING through the truck’s audio system. I mean, you could’ve heard this conversation a mile away. A bunch of his homies sounded like they were talking about a drug deal gone bad and how somebody needed to get smoked.

Where do you guys live? In my neighborhood, the Amazon and UPS drivers drive just as safely as any other driver, park the van, walk the package up to the front door, and then leave. And they speak English.

The only one I see driving like a bat out of hell is the UPS driver but that’s the typical UPS driver

Amazon drivers, both contract and ones with a blue shirt, are consistently safe in my neighborhood.
The FedEx trucks are consistently safe in my neighborhood.
The USPS truck is consistently safe in my neighborhood.

The UPS truck though? Its driven by that delivery driver from Scrubs.
