No doubt, he’s going to see better defensive talent which can inflict pain. I didn’t see him trying to run like a running back in any of his clips though. He’s stayed healthy last year in a reasonably good conference. Seems smart and quick enough to avoid hits. His game seems similar to Ganz.I like his confidence. But at this point it is just off season pep rally kind of talk. I think our offense will be better this year, but how much better? And can our new running QB stay healthy? The bigger question is the defensive line. It was a historically terrible line last year and our portal additions were just “ok”. They mostly just added depth but did not really raise the talent bar much. That is why I am still pessimistic for this season. Don’t see our defense being all that good again this year.
I agree on having some hope with the new defensive line scheme. Was John Butler that much worse than Tony White? I mean, our scheme worked when we had Ty and Polar Bear, so I do worry that last year's problems were more talent related than scheme. Or, it could be that the old scheme worked ONLY if you had a really solid couple of anchors but was terrible if you didn't have that. Here is to hoping that the new scheme maximizes the talent we do have. Anxious to see if RVP can make a jump to the next level of performance this year. And can Nwaneri make a similar jump? As to the defensive line, some of that problem was scheme. I’m HOPING Aurich’s scheme gives our front 6-7 a better chance of being successful. Probably my biggest concern is the learning curve in switching to another new scheme. Fingers crossed. Looking forward to another fall of Husker football. It’s not life or death.
They have pieces to be a good DL. In an even front, it always starts with the 3-tech, and I know he wasn’t great last year but I seriously think RVP is an ideal 3-tech.I agree on having some hope with the new defensive line scheme. I agree ... a new season always brings some hope. GBR!
And I am not sold on our QB staying healthy. We always seem to bet snakebitten. But if he does I honestly do think he is an upgrade from Raiola. It still saddens me that he did not work out here. Our hopes were through the roof after he committed and especially after the 2024 Colorado game!
Because the OL/DL imo as well as assistant coaches have more to do with winning games than the other two things imo.If your starting QB is a lifetime .500 QB and your coach is a below .500 coach, why should I believe that’s a winning combo?
Holgo said something similar in his own interview, repping the hell out of things that work and ironing **** out. Hopefully we can get a better offensive unit as a whole with Colandrea than Raiola, it seemed very linear with Raiola.Because the OL/DL imo as well as assistant coaches have more to do with winning games than the other two things imo.
I hear ya about Rhule and I understand ur feelings . I also understand the Colandrea reservations as well.
I will see that I love Geep Wade and he's probably my new favorite coach on the staff without even seeing his guys take a snap. Imo he gets it. Find SOMETHING that you do well and rep the **** out of it. THEN have a bunch of different other wrinkles based off of it. Sounds so simple but we haven't seen that at Nebraska since Solich left imo. A bunch of grab bag offenses.
I love that he gets our lineman on the move. I'm hesitant about the DL though as most are.
Again I'm not saying you are wrong. In fact I've predicted a 5-7 year. Just feel like too many things need to go right in order to win games....especially defensively. BUT if we can establish that identity on offense at least the games can be entertaining to watch lol.
Hoping for the best but as always prepared for the worst. The life of a Husker fan.
Holla
We coming? Some of our quotes have sounded just as stupid as this one from the PuffsBetter get us early
With Raiola it all boiled down to the receivers getting open and Raiola seeing them. And if the receivers did not get open or Raiola just did not see them, then we would get an incompletion or a sack. But Colandrea brings the added dimension of being able to elude sacks and to make positive plays with his feet.Holgo said something similar in his own interview, repping the hell out of things that work and ironing **** out. Yeah but you gotta admit Pennsy, you’ve kind of gone over to the dark side. I’m in the “show me” zone but man lately you’ve been more in the “everything is gonna suck” zone of the attitude meter. I’m excited to see how it plays out. I’m not going to lose my mind if it doesn’t turn out to be a 7 win plus year. Look well coached. Play hard. If Colandrea gets hurt, so be it. Get experience for the young QBs. IF Colandrea sucks, play the young guys, let em take their lumps. Time will tell on the defense. Life’s too short to approach football with a gloomy outlook.I agree on having some hope with the new defensive line scheme. Was John Butler that much worse than Tony White? How about Cam Lenhardt? He has been a big disappointment so far.I think he will show out this year.
Not the dark side. Not at all. If your program sucks then it sucks, and pointing that out isn’t going to the dark side. It means being honest, blunt, and truthful. You have a tendency to pump sunshine and engage in wildly unfounded optimism. You have gone over to the rainbow pixie dust unicorn side.Yeah but you gotta admit Pennsy, you’ve kind of gone over to the dark side. I am making my annual Memorial Day weekend trip back to Nebraska to see old friends this week. I am looking forward to hearing what the old crowd has to say. (if this Wednesday you see an old man wearing a white baseball hat riding an e-bike around campus and downtown with another old guy, albeit one who is in much better shape, that will be me).Yeah but you gotta admit Pennsy, you’ve kind of gone over to the dark side. But all joking aside dingle, and quoting Joe Biden, “Come on man!”. Have you been asleep for the past 11 years? Good grief our program has been awful. Over the past 12 years we have had four head coaches. Last year of Pelini followed by three losers. The pessimists on this board have recent history as justification.
Yes, I expect us to suck this year again. We are dealing with more turnover among coaches, changed systems, new QB, mediocre transfers, and a head coach who is a terrible game coach.
If we end up with a good season I will gladly admit I was wrong.
In no way am I pumping sunshine. I’m predicting 6 or maybe 7 wins. It’s called being logical without being an emotional little *****.100% Pennsy. I’m all for having a positive attitude, but at this point, I can’t help but feel that anyone pumping the sunshine these days is more than optimistic. They’re full of sh*t. Can’t even be honest with themselves. They’re no better than Rhule. And I truly think too much of that is actually detrimental to the program. It breeds a false reality that’s permeated throughout the program over the years.

Hoping for better, but this is accurate. Statistical norms tend to prove true.If your starting QB is a lifetime .500 QB and your coach is a below .500 coach, why should I believe that’s a winning combo?
Did we miss before we got here (low ceiling) or have we missed since (lack of development)? How about Cam Lenhardt? He has been a big disappointment so far.
Yeah, but over the years you have been a sunshine pumper. And you have usually been wrong. Predicting we might win 7 games is some minor sunshine pumping. Maybe call it moonshine pumping. With our schedule this year and Rhule’s results so far, predicting 7 wins is a stretch. Possible? Yes. But a stretch. In no way am I pumping sunshine. I’m predicting 6 or maybe 7 wins. Saying my prediction is 6 wins with a chance of winning 7 is pure fantasy? You proved my point. I’m realistic and logical to a fault.Yeah, but over the years you have been a sunshine pumper. As for being emotional … it cuts both ways. You seem emotionally attached to an image of NU football that is at this point a pure fantasy.
We will see in the Fall dingle! I hope you are right. 6 wins would be winning our first three non con games, then beating MSU, Maryland and Rutgers. Do you have a guess as to who win #7 would come against? Iowa? Illinois? Win all those and we are at 8 wins. But my gut says we lose two or three of those. Maryland is no gimme. Heck, none of them are.Saying my prediction is 6 wins with a chance of winning 7 is pure fantasy? You proved my point. I’m realistic and logical to a fault.

Beating Illinois or the Clarkeyes are still winnable games. We will see in the Fall dingle! If we are to have a breakout season where we actually hit 8 or 9 wins we MUST beat Iowa and Illinois. A great season would be also beating Washington and Indiana at home.Beating Illinois or the Clarkeyes are still winnable games.
Can’t agree more, But it is what it is.That's pathetic. Year 4 and we're still talking about how Illinois and Iowa are "winnable" games.
Well there’s always a chance. If we would play mistake free and go +5 in turnovers there’s a chance. Likely? Nope. Shtiff happens. If we are to have a breakout season where we actually hit 8 or 9 wins we MUST beat Iowa and Illinois. A great season would be also beating Washington and Indiana at home.
There is very little chance of us beating Ohio State or Oregon.
THIS!!! This is what Rhulers don't want to admit!!!That's pathetic. Year 4 and we're still talking about how Illinois and Iowa are "winnable" games.
Nebraska football is certainly crappier than those three teams you mentioned.THIS!!! This is what Rhulers don't want to admit!!!
Instead they keep trying to convince us that teams like Illinois and NW and Iowa are these "tough games".
No, those are crappy teams and so is NU. But NU should not be crappy.
