It’s a really tough injury to come back from. Lachey was never the same after the same injury. He’s a really good TE but he’s looking from the outside in… not saying he can’t be a great TE but I think we have our main man with DJ
Why not both? He’s a really good TE but he’s looking from the outside in… not saying he can’t be a great TE but I think we have our main man with DJ
Have to agreeIt’s a really tough injury to come back from. Lachey was never the same after the same injury.
He also played on some awful passing teams so it's hard to gauge injury vs offense.Wasn't achilles what Luke Lachey had also? He just didn't seem to get back to same level pre-injury.
I believe Lachey broke his leg/ankle.It’s a really tough injury to come back from. Lachey was never the same after the same injury.
Plus some nice depth at the position and Lester knows how to use them well. He’s a really good TE but he’s looking from the outside in… not saying he can’t be a great TE but I think we have our main man with DJ

He did. He was under utilized when he returned IMO, but not like Hawks were a passing juggernaut either. He's still getting paid in the NFL so he's not bad.I believe Lachey broke his leg/ankle.
You don't think he's going to get an opportunity to play? I doubt that KFz would simply write him offHe’s a really good TE but he’s looking from the outside in… not saying he can’t be a great TE but I think we have our main man with DJ
He didn't say thatYou don't think he's going to get an opportunity to play? I doubt that KFz would simply write him off
No- I do think he will play but it’s hard to come back from a serious injury like a Achilles tendon injury aa when I wrestled I had one and really never the same after that - I hope the best for him!You don't think he's going to get an opportunity to play? I doubt that KFz would simply write him off
I think he will play, and we will be glad he is on the field when he does play. With DJ and Ortwerth Iowa looks good. And don't sleep on the younger guys, Meyer, Woods, Burt, etc.No- I do think he will play but it’s hard to come back from a serious injury like a Achilles tendon injury aa when I wrestled I had one and really never the same after that - I hope the best for him!
Looks like Luke Lachey failed a physical with the Packers. Picked up on waivers from the Texans. He did. He was under utilized when he returned IMO, but not like Hawks were a passing juggernaut either. He's still getting paid in the NFL so he's not bad.
Ostrenga will be a nice addition, but he's been surpassed by DJ Vonnahme. Hawks play plenty of two tight end sets, and injuries happen so the more the merrier. Hope they both shine in their own way.
Pretty late in his career to be switching especially since he missed spring ball, and won't be 100% for a month or so, if then.i realize ostrenga is a good TE but i recollect thinking that he looked even more amazing as a LB on his HS film than TE. if the TE room is stacked…

Will be interesting what they do with Woods. Really good athletes, but at 6'1 and not much over 200lbs, I don't know if he stays at TE. Maybe some kind of hyrbred. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up on the other side of the ball.....I think he will play, and we will be glad he is on the field when he does play. With DJ and Ortwerth Iowa looks good. And don't sleep on the younger guys, Meyer, Woods, Burt, etc.
It’s too bad because Ostrenga is a tough SOB and was in position to make a claim for TE1 prior to his injury.No- I do think he will play but it’s hard to come back from a serious injury like a Achilles tendon injury aa when I wrestled I had one and really never the same after that - I hope the best for him!
Ostrenga broken his leg/ankle if I recall correctly. Still a serious injury. It’s too bad because Ostrenga is a tough SOB and was in position to make a claim for TE1 prior to his injury.
This situation kind of reminds me of former Hawk TE Jake Duzey who had all the tools and looked like a solid pro prospect before he tore his patella tendon. Tried but failed to make a comeback. Maybe Ostrenga has better luck but fully recovering from tendon injuries are notoriously difficult.
His injury was widely reported to be an Achilles tendon tear.Ostrenga broken his leg/ankle if I recall correctly. Still a serious injury.
Very well said my Hawkeye brotherIt’s too bad because Ostrenga is a tough SOB and was in position to make a claim for TE1 prior to his injury.

I don't think that's correct. Achilles injury vs ISU. The previous year Luke Lachey broke his ankle....Ostrenga broken his leg/ankle if I recall correctly. Still a serious injury.

Yep. Duzey's the one who had the long pass reception and run for a TD I think against OSU wasn't it?Very well said my Hawkeye brother
Yes. His knee injury was basically career ending. I think the patella was the one that is nearly impossible to recover from. He had, I believe 3 separate ligament tears.Yep. Duzey's the one who had the long pass reception and run for a TD I think against OSU wasn't it?
Crap. You're right.I don't think that's correct. Achilles injury vs ISU. The previous year Luke Lachey broke his ankle....
Yes- I do remember thatYep. Duzey's the one who had the long pass reception and run for a TD I think against OSU wasn't it?
The problem with the achilles is not always the full-speed, Ostrenga will regain that, as KF said. The problem will be how well can he cut...?If he ends up at 100% it will be interesting as he showed signs of being a "good one" before the injury. TE has the potential to be stacked again!
