Looks like Round 5 may be coming our way in Hoover, barring something unforeseen.
Except this time at 9:30 AM on a Wednesday.

Id much rather have Elliott. Cade Townsend is their #1 now. Projected 1st rounder.I said it in another post. I suspect they will pitch their number 2 against MO and save Elliott for State. Hope it backfires on their arrogant asses.

We've crapped the bed over and over this year in the SEC. Hard to complain about our draw one way or the other. Not crazy about this draw. Hard to beat a team 5 times. But hard to bet against Valincius on the mound. Especially coming off a mediocre outing.

Why? Who else we gonna start? And he’s on 5 days rest. No different than starting Thursday after a Friday start.I will be shocked if Tomas pitches on Wednesday
The SEC tournament does not matter. It is more important to get your starters on a set schedule for post-season than to win any games in Hoover. I expect Tomas to pitch on Thursday and maybe Ryan on Friday if we survive Wednesday. Why? Who else we gonna start? And he’s on 5 days rest. No different than starting Thursday after a Friday start.
What difference does it make if he pitches Wednesday or Thursday? Neither of them may pitch at all if we start Billingsley vs their ace. And a 1st round loss (I guess 2nd round with the bye) and we’re squarely on the hosting bubble. We need a win to guarantee hosting. The SEC tournament does not matter. McPherson’s regional role will be interesting to follow. I’d think we want to get him 60 pitches in Hoover against live competition. If he gets it (or even if he just gets it in a simulated start in the pen), he may be able to step in and start against the 4-seed so that we can save Tomas for the 2/3 winner. The SEC tournament does not matter. If we host a regional, I would start Stone game #1 and save Tomas & McPherson for games 2 & 3.McPherson’s regional role will be interesting to follow. Then he’d be the #1 moving forward, hopefully, if he worked the kinks out by then. Not looking too promising on that front yet, but we’ll see.
We have to save Valencius for the winners bracket game if we want any chance of winning a regional.McPherson’s regional role will be interesting to follow. That’s a bold strategy Cotton. But probably our only chance. Even then, as much as I hate to say it, we only have one starter we can count on right now. In 2 starts McPherson looks like he has a LONG way to go & the regional starts in less than 2 weeks. It’s gonna be hard to win it even if we do start 2-0.If we host a regional, I would start Stone game #1 and save Tomas & McPherson for games 2 & 3.
That’s a good way to lose Wednesday and possibly be a 2-seed at Southern Miss.I tend to think we do a bullpen day Wednesday especially since we’ve already done that against OM once recently and it worked. Feel like we would prefer to make it to Thursday before throwing Tico.
If we were to win two games, we’d have an off day Friday. Four games max to win the tourney if we were to have a good week. Feel like that lends itself to bullpen day Wednesday, Tico Thursday, then if you keep winning, you’d get back around to McPherson and Stone in some order on the weekend. I am not counting on us making it to the finals, but I guess you never know. Maybe you beat OM again and then UGA isn’t super interested on Thursday and at that point you’ve made it to Saturday.
I’m sure if we are playing Ole Miss they will throw Elliott or Rabe. Curious to see how they approach the Mizzou game. Maybe we catch a break and Mizzou plays its best game of the year (they still suck but they aren’t “worst SEC team ever” bad like last year”).That’s a good way to lose Wednesday and possibly be a 2-seed at Southern Miss.

We're starting Billingsley? Oof! I doubt he lasts one inning. Hope he proves me wrong though. What difference does it make if he pitches Wednesday or Thursday? I hope not. But if not Valencius, who else could it be? We used a lot of pitching this weekend. Mostly due to walks. We're starting Billingsley? Oof! I doubt he lasts one inning. Hope he proves me wrong though.
