Huge percentage of the top 285 guys graduate. Going to be a lot of change, and we’ve done well with the upper weights. Herrera might not be our 3rd best guy but probably has the 3rd highest upside. I think Ungar, Barbosa, even SCW are R12-R16 guys at best.
13/33 of the top 285 graduate next year but so does 13/33 of the top 133 pounders graduate as well.. I still think our 133,165,184 has higher upside..

Barbosa, as a freshman, beat the #2 guy so he can build upon that… SCW was #11 seed and beat top 8 guys like Fishback so he can get better, and Ungar was a R12 before so why can’t he improve on that… yes 285 clears a lot but until Herrera beats a top 8 guy idk why he can be considered higher upside then Barbosa/SCW.. who have beaten top 8 guys and can still jump lvls.

Only 4 of the top 16 wrestlers at 133 were seniors and the top 4 were all freshmen.

At 285, 4 of the top 5 were seniors. And 6 of the top 14 were seniors. There’s a lot more chances for higher end finishes at 285 than 133.

Ur missing the point, our 165, 184 has proven they can beat top 8 guys. We all know every year guys shift weights and new freshmans will emerge as well.

Yes, There’s more chances for a higher end finish at 285 than 133(both weights graduate 13/33 sr) but my point is Herrera hasn’t proven he can have that higher end finish until he has beaten Kueter, Feldman, Carrol, Mirasola..etc plus Merril and Ross coming in…. Being a previous R12 and a lotta guys graduate 133.. I think Ungar has higher upside just to make the podium..

I think you are underestimating Barbosa and SCW. Until Herrera can beat the #2 guy I wouldn’t say he has more upside.. if Herrera can match SCW’s #11 seed at nationals I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Ungar is capable of achieving some results however, he hasn’t lately. I would be pleasantly surprised if he’s going to be successful in the Big 10 at 133 this upcoming season. Can Gibson win the spot or will he challenge for the spot?
