With the addition of all the WC spots there's still plenty of time. Really need Bichette to get going though.
The Tigers may have injuries but so do the Mets. Four regular starters out, plus a couple of backups. No team can survive that without feeling it.I ll take the Mets seriously if they win 2 of 3 this weekend.
Sweeping Detroit is a wonderful feel good story however Tigers lineup is awful and their SP is ravaged by injuries.
Love the added enthusiasm and future with Ewing / Benge etc however it’s difficult to take this team seriously when you get minimal production from Catcher / 2b / ss and 3b positions plus having to see Tyrone Taylor or Austin Slater in the OF - let alone the pitching issues.
If issues continue hopefully Clifford is called up later in year.
That'll only start the countdown for you requesing a DFA.. . . hopefully Clifford is called up later in year.
"All?" Unless the NL Central totally collapses and one of San Diego or Dodgers (unlikely) poop the bed, this is a steep uphill climb. With the addition of all the WC spots there's still plenty of time. Really need Bichette to get going though.
I really don't like looking at any standings this early but Mets are 7 games out currently with all 3 spots up for grabs. That's not steep at all with this much season left. The NL Central teams will not all have .500 or above records by the time the seasons ends."All?" Unless the NL Central totally collapses and one of San Diego or Dodgers (unlikely) poop the bed, this is a steep uphill climb.
I understand ERA etc has been good but I’m referring to Senga / Peterson / Maneaa and lack of bullpen depth. The Tigers may have injuries but so do the Mets. Four regular starters out, plus a couple of backups. No team can survive that without feeling it.
This is in no way an excuse for the Mets being in a deep hole. But it is a valid reason why it will be tough to climb out of that hole anytime soon.
What pitching issues are you referring to? Pitching has been good. 9th out of 30 in team ERA.
Ha. I was lmao at the run prevention doctrine after seeing that play unravel a few days ago.
Do you think Baty / Vientos and Alvarez are and or will be contributors for a playoff team ?That'll only start the countdown for you requesing a DFA.
If you don't like Baty, Vientos and Alvarez, Clifford isn't the level of prospect that each of them was. He strikes out a ton more and doesn't have the average or OPS that those guys had in the minors.
Well, Vientos pretty much carried a playoff team into the NLCS...And I do think Baty could be an average to just above average player- he just needs to be given a position and let him play.Do you think Baty / Vientos and Alvarez are and or will be contributors for a playoff team ?
I don’t.
Baty is too inconsistent.
Vientos can’t field or run.
Alvarez is bad defensively / hits into too double plays / gets hurt too much and never gives up trying to hit 800 foot home runs.
If you think these guys should be part of your nucleus - you’re reaping the benefits or lack of it from the latter half of last year and thru this year to date.
I’d like to see Clifford come up and see what he can do. Plus it gets Vientos off 1b
Senga and Peterson can recover. Manaea’s done unless his velocity returns.)I understand ERA etc has been good but I’m referring to Senga / Peterson / Maneaa and lack of bullpen depth.
I don’t think the lack of depth in SP or RP is sustainable over the length of the season for the Mets.
Too many question marks.
I also neglected to point out the defensive issues per my original post
Vientos already has been a serious even top contributor on a playoff team. Alvarez certainly can be. I’ve never been sure about Baty.Do you think Baty / Vientos and Alvarez are and or will be contributors for a playoff team.
No doubt you were. Oh, and meanwhile the Mets have gone from 15th last year in MLB to 7th so far this year in defensive runs saved.Ha. I was lmao at the run prevention doctrine . . .
Was Dicky Lovelady implicated in the cock fighting? Not our problem.
Senga and Peterson can recover. Manaea’s done unless his velocity returns.)
Everybody CAN recover from any issue !Not our problem.

It’s very evident. I can see the tremendous improvement in Wins / Losses !No doubt you were. Oh, and meanwhile the Mets have gone from 15th last year in MLB to 7th so far this year in defensive runs saved.
OK, now I agree about pitching issues. The Tigers may have injuries but so do the Mets. Four regular starters out, plus a couple of backups. No team can survive that without feeling it.
This is in no way an excuse for the Mets being in a deep hole. But it is a valid reason why it will be tough to climb out of that hole anytime soon.

If anyone’s ever wondered how someone can walk through life just constantly saying wrong ****, here’s one way to do it.It’s very evident. I can see the tremendous improvement in Wins / Losses !![]()
Christ you’re a disaster area. Back to where I had you.Everybody CAN recover from any issue !
The question is WILL they recover?
We all know the answer is No.
Both are headcases !
With Holmes done - we ll all see very shortly !
My guess is that they will bring up a bullpen arm until Wednesday, then we'll see.Man really sucks about Holmes. Could be Wenninger time.
Zach Thornton had a beaut for AAA last night as well but he's probably next in line. Both over Tong currently.
Nice going losers.
Terrible injury for Clay Holmes.
Hurts the Mets significantly as he would have been a valuable trade chip at deadline
Now only Peralta is a valuable trade chip at deadline.
