I guess I’m coming into this midstream. From what I understand, Fran and Margaret’s behavior surrounding coaches vs cancer is being bright to light. Connor inserted himself into coverage of Iowa’s run in basketball telling portnoy to not cover Iowa, which has been brought to light. As I understand it, this is poor behavior of bullies and entitled bitches being brought to light. I don’t see how that is trolling or a flame war, or reactionism, much less schaudenfrueder (spelling?). Maybe it will encourage them to behave better going forward.

So I just watched all of the coaches vs cancer part. Fran and his wife are such pieces of trash. God that pissed me off. All of it.

It caught me off guard. I thought he was just a selfish prick who alienated everyone, including donors at i-club events. This behavior undermined a cause that benefits fighting cancer. That is reprehensible and on a whole new level of what I previously thought of him.

I think it is catching the more casual fans off guard, not everyone follows Iowa basketball closely. Yeah most knew he was a prick but trying to get Dolph fired multiple times and making him and Bobby Hansen (one of the greatest Hawkeyes ever) wait to eat on road trips until everyone else was done and had cleared the dining room is incredibly petty.

I also think there's another angle that has Iowans amped up about this stuff - Caitlin Clark and her future relationship with the university. The McCaffreys seem to be done with the U of I and that's fine. But Caitlin Clark is universally loved by Iowa fans and it would be a shame if she also gets to that point due to the McCaffreys.

I have heard whispers of some stuff, but now the flood gates are opening with reporters speaking their minds, and the breadth and depth of the McCaffreys' narcissism and pettiness is just amazing.

I get the first part. It's not a shock to me because I have interacted with him over the years. The second though isn't in the purview of Iowa fans and if it were those same fans are doing more damage to that relationship than she ever has. FFS, it wasn't even her boyfriend that Dave Portnoy said called him.
