"I hosted @cspanwj this morning and had a three-time Donald Trump voter who called in to share this:

"It's hard for me to say this, but I think, if i can open up about it in public that it might help others, I wanted to believe Trump was the real deal for a long time, even though I had doubts because I knew enough about his business history to think otherwise. But now I regret my support for him and I should've known better."

"He's the worst president we've ever had and he's the most corrupt president we've ever had. I know it's hard, it took me a while to be able to say that. Very difficult when you commit yourself to believing in somebody."

"Xavier Becerra on HHS under RFK Jr. and Trump: “They’ve decided to use politics, not science, to make decisions.”

Becerra: Viruses are not red or blue, and they go after anybody. And the difficulty here is that this administration—this secretary of Health and Human Services—has turned HHS into a red-or-blue place when it comes to vaccines. They’ve decided to use politics, not science, to make decisions.

And now we’re seeing the results. For the first time in decades, kids are again dying from measles because they’re unvaccinated. For the first time in decades, we’re having scientists and some of our greatest medical professionals kicked out of the Department of Health and Human Services.

For the first time ever, families are beginning to question the reliability, safety, and effectiveness of treatments that have been used for decades to keep our families safe because they’re hearing all this disinformation. That’s what happens when you inject politics—partisan politics—into science. And right now, science is losing at the Department of Health and Human Services. And we will pay the price.

And that’s the unfortunate part about this. It doesn’t happen instantaneously. But when you see that child die from measles in Texas, you know what’s going on. And it’s unfortunate, and you can never bring that child back. But it’s the politics.

And Katie, that’s what’s scary, because there should be this rule at the water’s edge that says politics doesn’t go beyond the water’s edge. Science must dictate what we do to keep people healthy. Unfortunately, this administration and this HHS secretary don’t care about science. They’d rather do politics."
